  2. The Acropolis of Athens 1. The Acropolis of Athens is a historic citadel situated at a top of a hill and overlooks the city of Athens. 2. Houses several ancient buildings that is of great historical importance and one of the most popular buildings in Parthenon. The Acropolis was called Cecropia in ancient times after a legendary serpent man- Cecrops who was supposed to be the first Athenian king. 4. The hill is recorded to be first inhabited as early as the 4th millennium BC.

  4. Daphni Monastery 1. Daphni Monastery is an 11th century Byzantine monastery located 11kms away northwest of central Athens along with the suburbs of Chaidari, Athinon Avenue. 2. It got its name Daphni from a Greek word which stands for Laurel grove. 3. The Monastery was founded at the end of the 6th century. 4. The Sanctuary of Apollo features the thinnest and smallest columns that sit on a base. Few of the columns have been kept for preservations, the current columns of some have been kept by the British Museum.

  5. 5. The exterior architecture design of the church has been built in a cloisonné style that consists of rectangular blocks, arched frames. Light coloured stone blocks, orange roofs, etc. 6. The floor of the church has been constructed in a simple Greek-style arranged at various levels, the church dome symbolizes the Heavens while the lower areas of the dome symbolize earth.
