NGOs and charitable organizations in our country are always looking out for dedicated volunteers to join hands with them. Since many popular NGOs are working on at least 2-3 projects at a time, volunteers can reduce their burden and help out, especially if they are understaffed.

NGOsandcharitableorganizationsinourcountryarealwayslookingoutfordedicatedvolunteerstojoinhandswiththem.SincemanypopularNGOsareworkingonatleast2-3projectsatatime,volunteerscanreducetheirburdenandhelpout,especiallyiftheyareunderstaffed.Myareaofinteresthasalwaysbeenworkingwithyoungkids,sowhenanopportunityopeneduptoworkatanNGOforchildren,Itookitupimmediately.Myexperienceasavolunteerwasgreat,withafewupsanddownsalongtheway. Theworktobedonewillvaryfromorganizationtoorganization,buttheworkIdidduringmytimeof9monthsincludedmainlyinteractingwiththechildrenwiththehelpofmiddaymeals.Iwasresponsibleforhelpingtheteachersoftheschoolswhereweservedmiddaymealscomeupwithnewmodulesforthedistribution,howtokeepthefoodhotandhealthy,maintaindecorumduringmiddaymealdistribution.Besidesthis,sometimesIalsohelpedthechildrenwithartsandcrafts,andotherextra-curricularactivitieslikesportsandgames.Donations for childrenhadtimeandtheteacherslovedmeforit.Thesebecameapartofmyregularroutineduringthe9monthsthatIvolunteeredattheNGO.Duringthesecondweek,theNGOwasconductinganinitiativetodistributemealsandrationsasapartofthenewprojectthattheystarted.ItwasbasicallyaprogramwherepeopledonatetoNGOduringanyspecialoccasion.So,Iwasrequiredtogatherthechildrenandhelpthemoutwiththeentiredistribution. ThemostfuntimeformewasduringtheChristmasseason.IwasgiventhetaskofhelpingoutwithfundraisingasIhadsomesocialmediaskills.Everyyear,theysellhand-madecandlesandjutebagsduringthefestiveseasontoraisefunds.Sincewewantedmorepeopletoattend,Ihadanideatousesocialmediatopromotetheeventaswell.ThiswasalotoffunbecauseIgottoseehowthecandlesweremade,andalsointeractedwithsomanynewpeople.Thechildrenevenputupadanceandmusicperformanceduringtheevent. Duringmytimeasavolunteer,Idevelopedmoreconfidence,leadershipskills,andcommunicatingwithpeopleofdifferentages.IhadagreattimeandwouldlovetogobackwhenIreturnhome.
