  1. 5 PRINCIPLES OF ASICS SHOES – WHAT GOES INTO EVERY SHOE We design our running shoes with intent. When each new design is created, we ask the following questions:  Is this shoe created for speed or pure comfort?  Will the shoe need stability over rocky terrain or pounding the pavement?  Should the fit be snug or roomy? When the shoe’s intent is known, we further define the design within five principles. Each attribute contains a range that reaches from one extreme to the other. In the end, we create a shoe that is perfected for its purpose. CUSHIONING When your foot lands on the ground, cushioning is there to soften the impact. It goes under your heel and forefoot, and sometimes runs all the way through the midsole from top to bottom. How much you need depends on your weight, typical speed and training regime. SUPPORT This is all about how much the shoe stabilizes your foot as you run. If you’re an overpronator, the support keeps your foot from rolling too far inwards to assure that all your effort is helping you go forward. But runners who have a neutral running style – where their foot rolls inward just the right amount – don’t need the stabilizing technology, but they may still like a little added support to keep their foot secure throughout a long run.

  2. RIDE This is all about how much your foot feels the ground below as you run. Many runners like that close feeling as it allows them to be more responsive to any changes in terrain. But lots of runners prefer something more comfortable and relaxed, and like to run with soft, bouncy materials underfoot. FIT How the shoe fits around the top of your foot is crucial – it can either be very snug for a tight fit, or it can be a little roomier for wider feet. Tighter fits offer the maximum stability as the middle of the foot stays securely in place. GRIP Every shoe needs grip to some extent – but how much grip defines whether the shoe is for tough, technical trails or synthetic track surfaces. Weather plays a part too –if it’s raining you’ll need a little more to keep your feet secure. WANT TO FIND THE RIGHT SHOE FOR YOU?
