  1. 11 Tips You Must Know for Making the Perfect Cheesecake

  2. Those of us who know anything about baking agree on one thing- cheesecakes are tricky to make. But don’t worry. We have got your back. As far as making a cheesecake is concerned. In this article, we have discussed 11 tips that you must know and follow to make a perfect cheesecake. Let’s begin.

  3. 1. Crush it on the crust There are a lot of options for cake crust. You can use finely grind cookies, nuts, or crackers to make the base of the cake. If you want to impress someone with your baking skills, go ahead and don’t feel afraid of experimenting with something new. You can use herbs or citrus peel in your crust.

  4. 2. Consider full-fat ingredients If you are making the cake for a client whom you want to impress, we suggest using regular cream cheese and sour cream because they are full-fat ingredients and taste great. Your customer will be impressed. If you decide to use reduced-fat or fat-free products, without specific instructions from a client, you might be doing harm to your baking career. In case the customer has not developed a taste or fondness for low-fat products, he/she will be disappointed in your baking skills.

  5. 3. Use room temperature ingredients A perfect cheesecake is one that melts on your tongue like poetry. This can be achieved by a smooth blending of the ingredients. Bakers tend to overlook this point and this compromises the taste and feel of cheesecake. When making cheesecake, make sure you are using all the ingredients at room temperature otherwise they won’t blend smoothly. The end result is that a lumpy cake is produced.

  6. 4. Use a hand mixer Time to recall old age saying- self-done is well done. And when we talk about cheesecake, no technology or machinery can give you the results which you can get with a hand mixer. So, it does not matter if your nails are at risk or if you don’t want the grease of batter on your arms- if you want to have a good cake, you gotta use your hands.

  7. 5. Add eggs in the last The longer you whip your mixture of cream cheese and sugar, the smoother the mixture will be and the more fluffy the cake will be. But, be mindful of the eggs. Because you can’t whip it too much once you add the eggs. More whipping means more incorporation of air in the batter which can expand and contract during baking and cooling- causing the cake to get cracks. Hence, we suggest you whip the mixture as much as you like, but before adding eggs. Eggs must be the last thing to go to a mixture.

  8. 6. Grease the pan Even if you are using a nonstick pan, make sure you grease it before putting it in the batter. The cheesecake won’t be cheesy or cake-y if the batter keeps sticking to the edges. In case it sticks to the base, you will have to pull on the sides of the cake, which might crack it. And we know what a cracked cake looks like-NOT WELCOME HERE. With that in mind, you can also line the base of the pan with a layer of non-stick aluminum foil so that the cake glides off easily and can be served easily.

  9. 7. Add a swirl Make your cheesecake look fancier by adding a swirl to it. You can give some of the batters another flavor for the swirl. There is always an option of creating a swirl with jam.

  10. 8. Get the oven ready Cheesecakes are ruined if they are put too close to the oven’s heating element. For cheesecakes, it is recommended to move the rack one rung lower from the center rack. You are not baking cookies, right? With a distant rack, the cake will remain prevented from the cracks occurring from the heat of the oven.

  11. 9. Don’t peek! While baking a cheesecake, it is recommended not to open the oven door frequently. As for the first 30 minutes, it is better not to open the door at all because drafts can crack it.

  12. 10. Do the wobble test While we are talking about minimum peeking, let’s make a tradition of setting a timer to the minimum recommended time for baking. This way you won’t open the oven door till the time it has reached its minimum doneness time. The cake is ready if the edges are puffed and the center wobbles upon tapping the pan with a spoon. The rest of the baking process can continue owing to the heat trapped inside.

  13. 11. Run a knife around the edge To check the cake for its doneness, don’t prick it with a knife or anything as it might get cracked. Also, better run a knife around the edge of the cake to loosen the cake without causing any cracks. Before you do that, allow it to cool down. But for removing the sides of the pan, give it an hour to cool down in a draft-free location.
