Calculations of AISC Bolting Design

<br>Required tightening moment - determined by the prestress force and affected by<br>the friction factor in threads between the nut and bolt, and by the friction factor<br>in the contact surface of the nut or bolt. Bolt value is the strength of the bolt.<br>Strength of bolt is taken as the minimum value of the following.<br>(Shearing strength in a bolt. Bearing strength in a bolt. Tensile strength in a bolt.)<br>The shear strength of all bolts = shear strength of one bolt x number of bolts u2022<br>The bearing strength of the connecting / connected plates can be calculated<br>using equations given by AISC specifications
