Advanced Devices Used in Ocular Surgery Receive Approval from Various Regulatory Bodies Ocular surgery, commonly known as eye surgery is a surgery done on an eye for the treatment of various eye-related diseases. The surgery is typically performed by an ophthalmologist. The eye is such a delicate organ and needs extreme care before, during, and even after a surgery procedure to prevent or limit further damage to the eyesight. Ocular Surgery includes cataract surgery, corneal surgery, eye removal, eye muscle surgery, glaucoma surgery, laser eye surgery, oculoplastic surgery, refractive surgery, surgery involving the lacrimal apparatus, vitreoretinal surgery, and other surgeries. Oculoplastic surgery includes eyelid surgery, orbital surgery, and other oculoplastic surgery. Increasing number of eye-related disorders boosts demand for various devices used in ocular surgery. According to the BrightFocus Foundation, January 2019, around 11 million people in the U.S. suffered from macular degeneration, which is expected to double to nearly 22 million by 2050. The U.S. is witnessing adoption of advanced technologies for the treatment and management of various eye diseases.
