  2. Open area (Known to Self and Audience) This quadrant represents information about a person that is known to both themselves and others. It includes behaviors, feelings, thoughts, and experiences that are openly shared. A larger Open Area indicates strong communication and trust within a relationship. Example: Imagine you're in a project team meeting, and you openly share your ideas, thoughts, and concerns with your colleagues. They, in turn, also share their perspectives. This is your Open Area, where information is known to both you and your team members.

  3. Hidden area(Known to Audience, Not Known to Self) The Hidden quadrant contains information that is known to the individual but kept hidden from others. It includes personal secrets, private thoughts, and emotions that are not disclosed. Opening up this area can foster trust and intimacy when shared appropriately. Example: You have a fear of public speaking, but you keep this fear hidden from your colleagues and friends. You always appear confident when speaking in public, but inside, you feel nervous. This is your Hidden Area, as you are aware of your fear, but others are not.

  4. Blind area (Known to Self, Not Known to Audience) In this quadrant, information is known to others but not to the individual. It includes aspects of one's behavior, attitude, or impact on others that they are unaware of. Feedback from others can help expand the Open Area by reducing the Blind Area. Example: Your colleagues may notice that you tend to interrupt others during meetings, but you're not aware of this behavior. They provide you with feedback about it, making you realize this blind spot in your communication style.

  5. Unknown area (Not Known to Self or Audience) This quadrant holds information that is unknown both to the individual and to others. It encompasses aspects of one's personality, potential, or unconscious feelings that have not yet been discovered. Self-awareness and personal growth can help shrink the Unknown Area. Example: You have never tried a particular hobby or skill, like playing a musical instrument, and you've never been in a situation where this potential interest could emerge. Therefore, it remains in your Unknown Area until you decide to explore it.
