  1. Municipal Corporation A municipal corporation is a type of local government in India that administers urban areas with a population of more than one million. The growing population and urbanization of various Indian cities highlighted the need for a type of local governing body that could provide services such as healthcare, education, housing and transport by collecting property taxes and administering grants from the state government.

  2. The main function of the municipal corporation  • Water supply • Electricity • Education • Sanitation • Public Health • Transport • Trade and market

  3. Electricity • The municipal corporation provide electricity to the people of the city. Electricity is an the essential part of the modern life because electricity has many uses in our day to day life. Modern means of transportation and communication have been revolutionized by it.

  4. Water supply • It is another important function of the municipal corporation to make arrangement of pure drinking water for the city.Water is a valuable product, which is essential for survival of life. It is a unique product with no substitute and continues to be the basic need of mankind.

  5. Education The municipal corporation also make arrangements for providing education to the people. The establishment of primary and middle schools is one of the most important function of the corporation.

  6. Sanitation • The municipal corporation is responsible for the sanitary conditions in the cities .public roods are properly swept ,cleaned and warted.

  7. Public Health • The municipal corporation makes arrangement for the establishment and maintance of hospital and dispensaries vaccination etc.

  8. Transport • The municipal corporation provides licenses and frames rules for taxis ,scooter ,tongos rickshaws etc

  9. Tarde and market • Muncipal corporation gives license and facilities to trade and industries in the area

  10. Miscellaneous functions • The bridge service . • Record of birth and death. • To give notice and demolition of old buildings for safety. • For the vaccination of stray dogs . • Arrangement for playground ,parks and gardens . • Arrangement of cremation ground.
