  1. Participatory Session Educational Challenges during Covid -19

  2. Hello! I am Prajwal Bhattarai [ Academic Activist, Social Entrepreneur, Edupreneur, Leadership Coach ] Country : Nepal

  3. Synopsis –Covid 19 & Its impact Let’s start with the first set of slides

  4. About this template Introduction – Covid 19 on Academics • STEM - The simplest definition is what it stands for, which is science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. • Goal - to encourage students to take an interest in STEM subjects at an early age. • STEAM is an educational approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics. • Teacher needs to guide the student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking.  • Teacher needs to develop the kind of creativityand help teachers looking to integrate elements on their lessons.

  5. “It is in Apple’s DNA that technology alone is not enough – that it’s technology married with liberal arts, married with the humanities, that yields us the results that make our hearts sing.”

  6. About this template Art vs. STEM: • The arts are vital for engaging, inspiring, and promoting a sense of innovation. • Art is important to the groundwork for abstract thinking and awareness. • Art projects that require children to work together are particularly useful.  • Art is so much more than a bygone piece of classroom life. • Arts develop innovation, initiative, social skills, and creative representation.

  7. Use charts to explain your ideas Lets see this chart

  8. Importance of the Arts • WHY IS THE “A” IMPORTANT IN STEAM ? • Art and STEM need each other to succeed, which is why art makes up the A in STEAM. • Drives Academic Achievement. • Improves Decision-Making Skills. • Refines Creativity. • Develop their problem-solving and critical thinking skills. • Encourage holistic learning all throughout a STUDENTS academic life.

  9. Limitations of Adding Arts • The proponents for STEM over STEAM generally take one of a few basic views: • The addition of art takes something away from the other subjects. • Art should stand alone and be allowed to exist independently. • It forgets the original goal of encouraging students to take on STEM career paths to solve the shortage of workforce in STEM industries. • The problem with these points of view is that they see the shift to STEAM as a radical change in philosophy.

  10. As an academic activist, my viewpoint on, STEAM is  worth taking the time to understand the importance of the arts in providing students with a rounded education. In addition, the arts can help to provide individuals with a greater appreciation for culture.

  11. Want big impact? Answer this Isnt This building an artistic ?

  12. According to Pew Research Center, employment in STEAM occupations has grown 80 percent since 1990, outpacing overall North America job growth.

  13. 2.4 Million  A Deloitte study found that the skills gap within the manufacturing industry alone could leave an estimated 2.4 million jobs unfulfilled between 2018 and 2028.

  14. Our process is easy Learning Process is Easy STEM Add Arts STEAM STEAM encourages collaboration to understand a STEM concept. By integrating concepts and practices of the arts, STEAM uses tools such as data visualization or fine art imagery to deepen one’s understanding of science, math and technology.

  15. SWOT Analysis - STEAM STRENGTHS • Simple evaluation of workshop objectives. • Low cost • Cohesion of different levels of society (institutions. family. professionals, companies) • WEAKNESSES • The excess of extracurricular activities makes it difficult to consolidate the understandings. • Few precedents of scientific dissemination in institutions • S • W • Multiple extracurricular activities can dilute STEAM interest. • Vague or Ambiguous • THREATS • Redesigning library space in the digital age. • New products in line with technological innovation. • Intercultural knowledge in projects. OPPORTUNITIES • O • T

  16. Conclusion and Remarks on TOPIC The "A" in STEAM -Adding in the Arts The addition of art might just be the special ingredient Adding Arts reminds us not to think about what can be done, but what might be possible. STEAM gives students a license to create just for the fun of it, for the beauty of it, for the love of creating. STEAM is all about letting the inspiration run through your veins, down to your hands and spill out onto the canvas. Adding Arts in canvas might be a pile of timber, a stack of popsicle sticks, or a computer screen. Putting my remarks with the example of an IPHONE.
