  1. 3 Safety Tips for Our Forklift Rental Clients Here at Access Hire, we are committed to safety as our number one priority. We are also dedicated to supplying high quality well maintained equipment that will be safe and effective to use. Some of our clients rent equipment as required on a sporadic basis and they or their operators may not be up to date with the latest good practices. For this reason, we have put together this list of three safety tips for using our forklifts. 1. Keep Up to Date on the Latest Safety Guidelines We’ve already touched on this, but it bears repeating, safety should always be your number one priority in the modern workplace. Failing to conform to safety standards could get your staff injured and result in other legal and financial penalties. For these reasons, it’s vital that you stay up to date with the latest safety guidelines and legislation. Also, your forklift operators need to have all their certifications to handle the various material handling capacities that they will be working within. It’s a good idea to get these skills brushed up from time to time with some in house training. 2. Always Check the Forklift Before Use A crucial part of a safety conscious workplace is diligence; attention to detail and established routines eliminate a great deal of risk. Before any forklift is used, it needs to be thoroughly inspected to make sure that it’s safe to use. The fuel and voltage levels should be checked to make sure that there will be no machine malfunction during use. The belts and pulleys should be examined to ensure that they are safe to operate. Finally, the hydraulic oil should be checked to make sure that the forklift platform can be raised and lowered safely. 3. Always be Alert and Communicate The forklift operator needs to be aware of what is happening on their floor at all times. The area should be constantly surveyed for any emerging hazards or potential dangers. The operator should always have their hands free so that they can quickly react to any emergency and to ensure that they are not distracted. This means that they shouldn’t be checking their phones,

  2. drinking or holding food items when driving a forklift. As part of a team, it’s also important that forklift operators stay in contact and communicate effectively. Lights and signals are a great way to stay in touch, and a distinctive warning alarm will be necessary for emergencies.
