3. ABOUT UNIVERSITY The Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) is located in Agartala, Tripura. By the way, it is also referred to as IIIT, Tripura. 5. HISTORY In the first place, the ministry of human resource development (MHRD), the Government of India intended to establish about 20 institutes for higher education in information technology. Above all, it was to address the challenges in the IT industry. Also, it would help in the growth of the domestic IT market. Therefore, the iiit, Agartala came into existence in Agartala, in Tripura, as one of the 20 institutes. Hence, it is a new institute that is functioning since 2018. In case of emergency, you will be able to use the adequate number of buses, jeeps, and private vehicles that are available on NH-44 for traveling to Agartala. However, the students must avail bus facility from Agartala to the campus. But, you can seek a relaxation of rules on certain special grounds.
