5. HISTORY The Indian Institute of Technology, Jammu, was established in 2016 and is an institute of national importance. The University came into existence when a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of Jammu & Kashmir, and Government of India. The University is located in the village of Jagti, in Nagrota Tehsil, in the Jammu district, and full-time bachelors, masters, and doctorate courses to its students.
