  5. HISTORY The Indian Institute of Technology, Tirupati, holds the status of institute of national importance. It is an autonomous institute under the Government of India. In this case, iit, Tirupati started functioning in 2015. It was functioning from the campus of Krishna Teja Engineering college. The institute was mentored by IIT, Madras.
