5. HISTORY In December 1901, the Indian National Congress passed a resolution in the XVII Session that a government college of mining engineering should be established in India. However, the report sent by the Government of British India and Indian Mine Managers in 1924 became the main basis for the establishment of the Indian School of Mines & Applied Geology at Dhanbad on 9 December 1926. In 1956, the school was granted university status by the University Grants Commission.

INFRASTRUCTURE Library The Indian Institute of Management, Dhanbad, has a completely automated library with more than one lakh books in various subjects such as management, chemistry, geology, physics, and so on.
