INTERRUPTION OF REVELATION
REVELATION PAUSE: Quranic revelation paused briefly, causing distress to Prophet Muhammad. Contrary to claims of a three-and- a-half-year pause, Ibn 'Abbas suggests a shorter duration. Prophet Muhammad experienced depression during the pause. Attempts to throw himself off mountains were thwarted by the appearance of the angel Gabrie PROPHET'S EMOTIONAL STATE:
REVELATION RESUMES: After the pause, strong, frequent, and regular revelations began. Quranic verses command the Prophet to arise, warn, magnify Allah, purify garments, and avoid idols (74:1-5).
First Stage: True visions marked the initial phase of revelation. Second Stage: Invisible casting of thoughts and messages in the Prophet's heart and mind. Third Stage: Angel visits in human form for direct communication. Fourth Stage: Bell-like revelations with physical strain on the Prophet Fifth Stage: The Prophet sees the angel in his actual form, receiving Allah's orders. Sixth Stage: Allah's revelations during the Prophet's ascension to heaven. Seventh Stage: Direct words from Allah to the Prophet without angelic mediation. Eighth Stage (Controversial): Claims of direct communication with Allah without a curtain, unconfirmed. STAGES OF REVELATION:
Ibn Hajar notes the pause relieved the Prophet's fear, fostering a longing for revelation. The end of the pause affirmed Muhammad as the Messenger of Allah.
