  3. ACKNOWLEDGMENT  I would like to express my special thanks of gratitude to my teacher Mr. Jasbir Singh as well as our principal Mrs. Sangeeta Zaidi who gave me the golden opportunity to do this wonderful project on the topic FOREST AND WILDLIFE , which also helped me in doing a lot of Research and I came to know about so many new things I am really thankful to them. Secondly I would also like to thank my parents and friends who helped me a lot in finalizing this project within the limited time frame.

  4. INTRODUCTION Forests and wildlife are necessary to regulate the population of different species of animals and birds. The forest ecosystem has primary, secondary, and tertiary consumers in the food chain. Forests help in maintaining biodiversity as various species of organisms takes shelter in the woods.

  5. WHAT IS A FOREST A forest is best defined as ecosystem or assemblage of ecosystems dominated by trees and other woody vegetation

  6. The entire habitat that we live in has immense biodiversity.

  7. TYPES OF FOREST 1 Tropical Evergreen Forest. 2 Tropical deciduous forest. 3 Temperate evergreen forests.  4 Temperate deciduous forest.  5 Mediterranean Vegetation. 6 Coniferous Forests.

  8. DEFORESTATION Deforestation is the purposeful clearing of forested land. Throughout history and into modern times, forests have been razed to make space for agriculture and animal grazing, and to obtain wood for fuel, manufacturing, and construction. ... Much of Earth's farmland was once forests

  9. AFFORESTATION Afforestation is the establishment of a forest or stand of trees in an area where there was no previous tree cover. Many government and non- governmental organizations directly engage in afforestation programs to create forests and increase carbon capture.

  10. conservation of forest Some of the steps we can take to conserve our forest resources are as follows: 1.Regulated and Planned Cutting of Trees 2.Control over Forest Fire 3.Reforestation and Afforestation 4.Check over Forest Clearance for Agricultural and 5.Habitation Purposes 6.Protection of Forests

  11. FLORA AND FAUNA Flora refers to all plant life and fauna refers to all animal life. Fauna cannot prepare their own food so they depend upon the flora for their food.

  12. FLORA AND FAUNA

  13. Endangered species Many species vital to ensuring that today’s environment will thrive are becoming extinct. If a species is slowly dwindling, and in imminent danger of becoming nonexistent, this species is considered to be endangered. “One in four mammals, one in eight birds, one third of all amphibians and 70% of the world’s assessed plants on the… IUCN Red List are in jeopardy” (IUCN, 2016). According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature, or IUCN, upwards of 16,000 species are threatened with extinction, including both plants and animals (IUCN, 2016)

  14. ENDANGERED SPECIES  Wild animals and species BIG TEXT Snow leopard Mountain goat

  15. CHIPKU MOVEMENT Chipku movement, also called  nonviolent social and ecological movement by rural villagers, particularly women, in India in the 1970s, aimed at protecting trees and forests slated for government-backed logging

  16. WILDLIFE CONSERVATION

  17. What are the steps taken by government to protect wildlife (i) To survey and collect all the information about wildlife, especially, their number and growth. (ii) To protect habitat by protecting forests. (iii) To delimit the areas of their natural habitat. (iv) To protect wildlife from pollution and from natural hazards
