  1. What is a self-locking washer? A lock washer is a type of washer specifically designed to prevent bolts from coming loose. Similar to other washers, it distributes the load of fixed objects or objects more evenly. However, lock washers go a step further by "locking" the screw. Fasteners Company in India Screws can loosen over time. Screws may gradually loosen when attached to machines or devices. Eventually the screw will be able to come out of the screw hole where it was originally installed. A lock washer prevents this by securing the screw. Even if a machine or device generates strong vibration, the screw will not loosen if it is fixed with a lock washer. How do lock washers work? There are two reasons for fasteners to come loose. It's called spontaneous loosening and loosening. Natural Self-Loosening AKA Rotational loosening occurs when fasteners are stressed by dynamic use. Loosening occurs when the material sinks under the fastener after it is tightened. Certain materials, especially soft materials, tend to settle excessively. As these materials settle, the preload on the fastener is released and it loosens. How many times can lock washers be reused? HEICO-LOCK washers can be reused over 20 times on common grade 10.9 bolts. Washers should be monitored and replaced with heavier bolts more often. Stainless steel discs should be replaced after one use. Why are they called lock washers? Lock washers are the second most common type of washer, aside from the various standard washers discussed in the previous article. Lock washers contain a mechanism that keeps bolts and nuts from loosening in the face of torque and vibration, providing the eponymous "lock" to the assembly. 8.8 Grade Bolt Manufacturers India Types of Lock Washers? +91 83690 74984 | sales@anankafasteners.com | https://anankafasteners.com/

  2. Below are some common types of lock washers and the applications they are most useful for. Split Lock Washer: A split lock washer is a split washer with two opposite edges. These sharp edges can easily bite into either side of the joint, creating friction between the bolt and the material it's bolted to, helping to hold the bolt in place. This type of washer is most useful when you need to lightly tighten bolts into relatively soft materials such as soft metals, wood, and plastics. If the screw is tightened too much, the split ring will be crushed and damaged. High Collar Lock Washers: High collar lock washers are similar to split washers but much thicker and more resilient. These washers can be used in a similar fashion but can handle much higher torque loads. External Serrated Washer: The outer serrated washer is similar to a standard washer but has teeth along the edge. The jagged edges dig into the material and create friction. They are commonly used in appliances, HVAC units, and various electrical connections. Internal Serrated Washers: Internal serrated washers work similarly to external serrated washers, except the teeth are on the inside instead of the outside. Therefore, it is suitable for screws with small heads or when you want to hide teeth. Disc Springs: Disc springs, also known as conical spring washers, are conical discs without slots or teeth. Conical washers are resilient under load, protecting bolt preload and preventing bolt creep. +91 83690 74984 | sales@anankafasteners.com | https://anankafasteners.com/
