  1. Site License Advisory Team November 30, 2015 meeting

  2. Agenda • Microsoft Updates • Office 2016 • Adobe DPS • Cost Recovery for SAS/SPSS • Renewals • SAS, Secunia, Sigmaplot, Adobe, JMP, Maple • Purchasing Updates: • Bids for enterprise-wide technology products • Update on IT Vendor Fair • Update on eStores

  3. Microsoft Office 2016 • Office 2016 is available to SLSC’s • Both Windows and Mac versions • Office 2016 interacts with Office 365: if you have a consumer license and log in with that MS account, it will “tick off” one consumer license. • You can skip this step, but it may nag your user for a login • ITSD has tested both versions, and you can get them now • KMS Servers updated

  4. Adobe Digital Publishing Solution (DPS) • Adobe has offered enterprise-wide usage of Adobe DPS • $150,000/year to cover the campus • Includes the creation of unlimited apps, including students in the classroom • Used primarily on campuses for advancement, athletics, and alumni purposes, and is a revenue generator • Excellent for marketability of students as well • Engineering, Athletics, University Communications, Journalism have expressed immediate interest

  5. Cost Shares • SAS • SPSS • Purchasing has requested that we move to FTE-based recovery • These products are being added to that • Passed Faculty Senate • Pending passage by SFO’s • Hoping to have this updated by mid-month • If you paid, we expect to refund for this FY.

  6. Renewals • SAS – complete, codes received • Secunia – complete • Adobe – complete • Sigmaplot – complete, pending codes • 13 codes received • Pending 11/12 codes • JMP – complete, pending codes • Maple – complete • All renewals through February complete

  7. Renewals: SAS • Codes should begin to provide warnings Nov. 15 • Codes will continue to work until Dec. 31 (hard fail) • Codes are expected shortly (within the next two weeks) • Funding gap to be resolved via FTE distribution • Assuming this continues, we should see faster renewals in future years • We have not determined how to manage Admin copies, but are discussing with the vendor

  8. Renewals: Adobe CC • Adobe CC is renewed • Year 2 of a 3-year contract • No price change/increase • There are no new codes or processes to update • TechHub is still working to handle home use distribution

  9. Renewals: Other Products • Sigmaplot • renewed • Codes expire Dec. 31 • JMP • Renewed, pending codes • Codes warn Jan. 15, hard fail March 1 • Maple • Renewed • No code expiration for this product

  10. OSU Purchasing IT Update • Bids in flight now • ERP bid is closed, and we are reviewing responses • Multi-Factor Authentication bid closed, reviewing responses • Vulnerability Management bid opened in Nov., closes Dec. 24.

  11. OSU Purchasing IT Update • April 27, 2016 is the third annual IT Vendor Expo • Changing format slightly: expanding the role of some vendors at the Expo • We have asked Microsoft and Adobe if they would like to have a dedicated room for 4 hours each the day of event • Their ask of us is to narrow down what products or services each provides that are of interest to us so they can provide the right person • Please send topics of interests to Jenny Culp, culp.42@osu.edu, by Friday, Dec. 18

  12. Staples now in eStores • Staples has replaced OfficeMax in eStores: • This shouldn’t affect most IT purchases (no hardware/software), but it’s an important change worth mentioning

  13. Questions/Comments • Next meetings • January 29, location TBD • April 27, 2016 is the third annual IT Vendor Expo • For SLS Questions, copy software@osu.edu with any correspondence
