    2. www.CTEnergyEducation.com Grade 9 – 12 Curriculum Development and Implementation Conducted 12 teacher workshops for 316 educators Presented 3 student workshops for 168 students Participated in 3 science teacher expos with more than 770 attendees Participated in the 3 day “One Thing Expo” with activities and a display Created 3 new lesson plans for the website Took over administration of “Keep Connecticut COOL!” Averaged over 900 unique website visitors – an 88% increase from 2007

Connecticut State Building Code Partnered with NEEP code specialist for five hands-on ResCheck and ComCheck Trainings Held 3 ResCheck sessions for 39 Local Code Officials Held 2 ComCheck sessions for 20 Local Code Officials Assisting Dept of Public Safety, State Building Inspector and the Code Revision Committee with 2009 Code Revision Supported Legislative Actions to upgrade CT Building Code. Presented Building Code updates to AIA - CT

    4. Integrate Energy Efficiency Into CT Technical High School System Received approval from Superintendent of CT Technical HS system for Curriculum Revision and held six workshops for Curriculum Specialists on integrating HP Building Standards into all Building Trades programs Conducted Professional Development on October 14, 2008 at SCSU 380 Instructors, curriculum specialists and administrators attended Gave presentation on Climate Change, energy efficiency and Green Jobs Additional speakers from CEEF, CCEF, Clean Cities and CT GBC Afternoon Breakout sessions with trades focus groups and science educators on how to integrate energy efficiency into the curriculum Designed 2009 program to integrate HP Building Design into Architectural Drafting Program Continuing program development for integrating HP Building design and energy efficiency into all building trades related programs by September 2009 Developing Zero-Carbon building plans for Senior Capstone in 2010

    5. Green Campuses Initiative Carbon footprints submitted to Presidents’ Climate Challenge from all four CSUs. Implementation Plans underway (due Sept. 2009) Promotion of the 12 Steps to a Sustainable K-12 School model through “Keep Connecticut COOL!” (formally “Cool It!”) Implementing Green Campus with Mystic Aquarium. Presented CT Green Campus Initiative in March at ACORE national conference and in November at AASHE national conference. Developing www.CTgreenschools.org website Planning a CT Green Campus Conference for 2009

K-12 School Energy Management Course Completed two pilot programs, Group 1 - Bridgeport, Trumbull & Stamford Group 2 - Cromwell, Wethersfield, Rocky Hill & Region 13 Benchmarked all enrolled schools prior to starting program Classes include technical material and field site visits Topics: CT Energy Issues, Building Energy Use, Energy Auditing, Cost Benefit Analysis, Energy Codes, Lighting, Heat Loss, Building Envelop, HVAC, IAQ, O&M opportunities, Demand Response, Distributed Generation, Renewable Options, and High Performance Standards Conducted a third course for the CT School Building and Grounds Association Post Program evaluation scheduled for late summer 2009. New section being offered to New Haven area schools.

    7. www.CTEnergyInfo.com www.CTEnergyInfo portal site was developed by DPUC and ISE to connect all things energy in Connecticut. Assistance was provided by the utilities. Includes links to CEEF efficiency programs, CCEF Renewable Program and finance programs, electricity reliability status in the state, shopping for energy, energy assistance support, energy related events and more Working with Mintz & Hoke to design a new layout and graphics Averaging more than 7000 unique visitors each month ISE is now responding to 1-877-WISE USE calls on energy related issues.

    8. HP School Circuit Rider Three Objectives: Collect and Maintain a database on new school and renovation projects; Educate Stakeholders through presentations, Influence Design by working with project teams. In the first year, ISE built an ACCESS database of 400 school in 58 school districts tracking their plans for renovation and replacement. ISE with CT GBC held five half-day workshops with over 300 attendees representing the design community and school systems. ISE developed a power point and made 24 presentations to school board or building committee members on high performance building standards and new code requirements in Connecticut for school construction. ISE is assisting eleven school systems on 15 new building or renovation projects.

Other 2008 Initiatives Completed a tracking study for the Office of Policy and Management to establish the base case for the Governor’s 20% renewable energy by state agencies by 2020 Initiative Completed Benchmarking of all seventeen facilities managed by the Department of Corrections Completed Benchmarking for town and school facilities in six new communities for the EPA 10% challenge “Keep Connecticut Cool” 2008 Climate Challenge included 200 participating students from 18 middle school and high school teams. ISE launched www.ctbiofuelinfo.org website to support the Legislature’s Biofuel/Biodiesel Initiative

    10. Looking Forward - 2009 Initiatives Continue maintenance of the www.ctenergyeducation.com program and materials including additional teacher workshops and integrating the “Keep CT Cool” contest as a annual capstone event. Continue to Benchmark town and schools facilities in communities that wish to participate in EPA’s 10% Challenge. Work with the CT Technical High School administration, faculty and students to integrate high performance building standards and training for Green Collar Jobs into their Curriculum. Work with the CT Community College System on both the Green Campus initiatives and the development of Green Collar Jobs focused on energy efficiency and renewable energy certification. Continue to support the design and construction of high performance schools and public buildings, and support the Dept of Public Safety in upgrading the State Building Code. Evaluate the effectiveness of the K-12 School Energy Management training course by benchmarking schools that participated in the pilot.
