  2. Different Types of Ants: Idaho • Is there a pest in Idaho that is more bothersome, tenacious, and challenging to eradicate than ants? Harvester Ants: - • Medium-sized (.25 inches), orangish-red to brownish-back in colour, and with 2 nodes on their petioles are harvester ants. • They are known as harvester ants because of their capacity to gather seeds across a wide region, leaving bare patches of grass and other vegetation in their wake. • The majority of harvester ants are herbivores that consume seeds and other plant matter. When startled, harvester ants are known to sting viciously.
