  1. The Metropolis Suite Base Mounted The Metropolis Suite from the AxiLume® range is the epitome of Frameless Glass Balustrades.

  2. The Metropolis Suite The Metropolis Suite from the AxiLume® range is the epitome of Frameless Glass Balustrades. The Metropolis Suite utilises high-grade aluminium glazing channels and fully compliant handrails such as the AxiLume® ARN and RRS. With elite style and no vertical elements the Metropolis suite has been designed to provide uninterrupted and panoramic views. COLOUR AND FINISHING AxiLume® Balustrades can be finished with either a powdercoat or anodised coating. A wide range of colours are available to choose from. This can allow the balustrade to compliment the aluminium joinery, blend into the surrounding building elements or stand out as a feature. SAFETY AND COMPLIANCE Structurally engineered and tested for superior strength and safety, and incorporating high strength aluminium sections. The AxiLume® Metropolis Suite is designed for compliance with the relevant Australian Building Code AS1170 when installed in accordance with Axiom Engineering documents. Site-specific certification is available. The Channels used within the AxiLume® Metropolis range are coated with a specialist Metaprep coating prior to Powdercoating, this is mandatory for warranty against Powdercoat failure. If channels are purchased in mill finish, it is the responsibility of the customer to satisfy itself that the Powdercoat applied uses the Metaprep pre-coating. For further detail on our Engineering and Certification, please refer to our website www.axiomgroup.com.au For fixing details and relevant CAD files, please consult with Axiom Group. ELEGANCE Designed to appeal, with an emphasis on stylish lines and fine detailing. AxiLume® Metropolis is the ultimate choice for discerning Architects and Builders. DURABILITY Built for durability, the AxiLume® Metropolis Suite is constructed from high grade aluminium using stainless steel fasteners and finished with a powdercoated or anodised surface for minimal maintenance. All monolithic toughened glass and heat strengthened glass (with a surface compression greater than 52MPa) is required to be heat soaked and marked in accordance with European Standard EN14179-1 unless exempt under AS1288-2006 clause 3.8. It is a responsibility of the Customer to identify individual requirements and to advise Axiom in writing if glass to be supplied is required to be heat soaked. It is the responsibility of the customer to check the colour, glass type, size, height and system requirements are correct prior to installation. Axiom takes no responsibility for incorrect goods once installed.

  3. Metropolis Detail when using EZM, AZC or AZD Glazing Channel Detail when using EZM, AZC or AZD Glazing Channel Metropolis 01 06. WEDGE GASKET – SWZ9 Large wedge gasket to inside face of glass. 01. TOPRAIL – ARN OR RRS Silicone bond to top edge of glass. Note: A continuous handrail is required when protecting a fall of over 1000mm and to prevent glass breakage, by protecting the top edge from being struck by hard objects. Joins to be adequately supported by RJS or MANG extrusion. Corners to be adequately supported by MANG90 or RJS90. 02 03 07. RETAINED BACK SEAL – SRB SRB to be inserted in screw flute prior to installation on external face of glass. 08. NON SHRINK GROUT Must be left exposed for minimum 5 days to allow for complete drying. Only install grout in dry and favorable weather conditions. 04 05 02. RETAINED BACK SEAL - SRE SRE to be inserted in screw flute prior to installation on external face of glass. 03. WEDGE GASKET – SWE35 12mm Wedge gasket to inside face of glass. 09. SETTING BLOCKS – SBS One block at each end of every glass panel. 10. GLAZING CHANNEL – EZM, AZC OR AZD To be continuous wherever practical. Joins should align with glass panel joins, and be tightly butted together and sealed before grouting. 04. SETTING BLOCKS – SBC 500mm centers to separate the toprail from the glass and prevent over-compression of the bonding silicone during rail placement. 1 1. FIXINGS (NOT SHOWN) To substrate on centreline of channel. Refer to Engineering for Fixing details. 06 05. TOUGHENED GLASS PANELS Appropriate thickness for application with all exposed edges Flat Polished. 07 08 09 10 Note: Gaskets and wedges are only designed to deflect the majority of surface water in this vicinity. They will not entirely prevent water ingress into the channel. Where the inside of the Glazing Channel is adequately protected from corrosion, gaskets may be used to cover the grout surface. Otherwise the grout surface must be sealed with MS Silicone. All channels must be coated with Metaprep finish and all joins to be completely sealed with MS Silicone. All monolithic toughened glass and heat strengthened glass (with a surface compression greater than 52MPa) is required to be heat soaked and marked in accordance with European Standard EN14179-1 unless exempt under AS1288-2006 clause 3.8.

  6. Metropolis Extrusion Drawings and Details 05. PANELGRIP The PanelGrip System utilises a unique locking mechanism of high-strength aluminum and PVC isolators combined with this specially designed shoe moulding. When assembled with 12 or 15mm thick toughened glass, PanelGrip creates a structural glass railing system. 01. AZD For supporting free standing glass balustrades, using 10, 12 or 15mm thick toughened glass. Designed for use on timber decks using two rows of exposed fixings, or on concrete decks using a central row of fixings. Utilizes glazing rubbers SRB Retained back seal and SWZ9 Wedge rubber when using 12mm thick glass. Suitable for pool fencing. 03. EZM For supporting free standing glass balustrades, using 10, 12 or 15mm thick toughened glass. It is designed for use on parapets, and if correctly installed, the creation of toeholds may be avoided. It may also be used for some full height balustrades, subject to relative design criteria. Utilizes glazing rubbers SRB Retained back seal and SWZ9 Wedge rubber when using 12mm Thick Glass. 06. ARN Slim line square top-rail to be used 12mm thick glass, designed for frameless glass balustrades in accordance with BCA requirements.
