  1. Tips and Tricks to Ace the AP Calculus Exam Why is Advanced Placement important? What is it? AP tests are college-level tests on specific subjects that are given in May after a student has completed AP courses in high school. A score high enough will provide the student with college credit at various colleges and universities. Earning college credits can sometimes reduce overall college tuition costs. If you intend to take the AP exam, you need to prepare well in advance because AP can be taken only once a year in the month of May. AP consists of the following subject: Check here Advanced Placement Calculus The American organization College Board offers AP Calculus AB and AP Calculus BC, a pair of calculus courses. One college-level introductory course in calculus is Calculus AB. AP Calculus BC covers some of the higher-level concepts above the AB curriculum, covering all AB topics. Both courses demand a thorough understanding of concepts including limits, derivatives, integral calculus, and their practical applications. A high score

  2. on the AP exam can also earn you college credit at many universities in the US and UK. Students will benefit from taking the AP Calculus exam in college, especially for credit. What do AP Calculus AB and BC mean? The ideas and uses of differential and integral calculus are explored in AP Calculus AB, an introductory calculus course at the college level. This AP course ends with an exam that measures both your ability to apply your knowledge and abilities to solve problems and your understanding of the theoretical underpinnings of the course material. AP Calculus AB can be compared to AP Calculus BC. It covers only a few new topics while still exploring similar concepts and applications. In other words, even though both courses require you to use similar skills, AP Calculus BC covers more material than AP Calculus AB. How AP Calculus AB and BC are comparable? Both courses teach topics and competencies that are covered in the first-semester calculus curriculum at the college level. AP Calculus BC covers all material from the eight units of AP Calculus AB. These are the subjects taught in both courses: ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● Limits and continuity (Unit 1) Differentiation: Definition and fundamental properties (Unit 2) Differentiation: Composite, implicit, and inverse functions (Unit 3) Contextual applications of differentiation (Unit 4) Analytical applications of differentiation (Unit 5) Integration and accumulation of change (Unit 6) Differential equations (Unit 7) Applications of integration (Unit 8) The essential requirements for both the syllabus and the test are the same as they both cover the same topics. Differences between AP Calculus AB and AP Calculus BC The first-semester calculus courses offered at a college emphasize AP Calculus AB. The topics studied in first and second-semester calculus classes are the main focus of AP Calculus BC. Every topic covered in the eight units of AP Calculus AB is also covered in AP Calculus BC. However, AP Calculus BC includes some more topics in Units 6-8 as well as two additional units (Units 9 and 10).

  3. Tips and Tricks to ace AP Calculus exam Let's start with some general study tips that you need to be aware of. The 45-question multiple-choice component and 6-question free-response section make up the AP Calculus exam of 3 hours and 15 minutes. You will be allowed to use a calculator for some part of each section and restricted from doing so for other parts. Be aware of the time Knowing how much time you actually have and what you are going to accomplish with it should be your first priority. You must make sure that you are constantly conscious of the remaining time. So you can be sure that you can clear the exam. Every question focuses on one of three topics Either limits, derivatives, or integrals are the subject of your inquiry. When you come across a question that you don't understand, just ask yourself which of these three things it is about. You'll start by majoring in the solution. Make a formula sheet Creating AP Calculus Formula Sheets will allow you to learn, practice, and memorize many formulas more quickly and easily. Recall your formulas You can have all the formulas you need only if you put effort into memorizing them. Make sure you are familiar with all of them, even though it may take some time and effort. They will be necessary. Practice questions You must be thoroughly conversant with the various topics that will be covered in your test. To get used to it, make sure to practice sample questions again and again. Understanding and applying rules You should be aware of all the rules that apply to different equations and formulas as well as how they work in practice. Read the questions again Even if you are confident that you understand the purpose of the question, it is best to read it again just to be sure. There may be something you missed.

  4. Understand the principles of your theorems If you are unable to explain a theorem to someone who has never encountered it before then you should practice it more. How can you prepare for upcoming AP Exams? Check here. Tips for AP Calculus Multiple-Choice Exam Review No points are deducted for wrong answers Wrong answers on the previous test count against you. The situation has changed. There is no reason why you shouldn't guess on questions you don't know the answer to because you won't lose marks for a wrong answer. Respond to simple questions initially Before you start reading the book, quickly skim down the questions. Start with the questions for which you can easily find the answer or have a definite solution. A method of exclusion Wait till the end, when you will have less time if you don't know the solution or are unsure how to figure it out. Make an educated guess after using a process of elimination to eliminate as many possible responses as possible. Avoid overanalyzing it Since the questions are generally not very challenging, you shouldn't think too hard about them or spend too much time reviewing the answers you've already completed. Don’t get distracted by them Some responses will be included just to confuse you. Make sure you can identify these quickly and easily and dispose of them in the same manner. Use the test questions that are official Although multiple choice questions may seem straightforward, you should use legitimate sources to obtain sample questions so that you can get a solid understanding of what to expect from them.

  5. Tips for AP Calculus Free Response Questions The free-response portion of the AP Calculus exam has a total of 6 questions and takes 1 hour 30 minutes to complete. This is done in two different steps. The first section has only two questions and has a time limit of 30 minutes (15 minutes per question), and the use of a calculator is permitted. The second section has four questions and the time limit is 60 minutes; a Calculator is not allowed. These two factors make up 50% of your final score. Work on old FRQs In fact, the old questions are posted and accessible on Collegeboard. These questions will give you an excellent indication of what kind of questions you will come across in the exam, so you should definitely go through them. You will benefit immensely from these calculus practice test questions. Start with ideas you don’t understand Begin your study session for this section with ideas you already know you don't understand or are not comfortable with. Before you begin, read all of the questions You should take the time to read all the questions before deciding where to start. This will enable you to choose the best questions to ask first. Graph and figure labels Be sure to name any graphs or figures you want to draw to make sure the people evaluating your test understand what you are trying to convey. Be thorough with your responses You should not oversimplify your responses in this part. Avoid over-simplifying the solution as it will be correct by the time you mark it. Verify again If you have time, double-check your answers to the FRQ questions. Be sure to retype an appropriate response after marking any answer you mark as incorrect. Our expert trainers will help you reach your target score with an effective strategy. Certainly, this information was worth digesting. If you still have unanswered questions feel free to contact us.
