The word • "psychology" comes from the Greek words "psyche," meaning life, and "logos," • meaning explanation. • Psychology is a popular major for students, a popular topic in the public media, and • a part of our everyday lives. The primary aim of psychology is to find the laws that • relate to behavior and their modifications. Addiction • The term "addiction" refers to the failure to stop consuming a substance or engaging in • an activity, ignoring the fact that it is harmful to one's mental and physical health. • The word "addiction" is derived from the Latin word "addictus" which means to sacrifice • or abandon. Research has shown that addiction is a disease that makes you a salve of a • particular substance that you are consuming. • Depression •  Depression is a mental disorder. Symptoms of depression, lack interest and pleasure in • daily activities, excessive weight loss or increase, insomnia or excessive sleeping, • tiredness, distraction, feelings of inadequacy or extreme sadness, and recurrent thoughts • of death or suicide. • Depression is a mental illness that can be treated with the help of a psychiatrist • (specialist of mental disorders and traumas).
