  1. 1 Career Advice: Transition from Ph.D Scholar to Senior Professor Ph.D scholars mostly seek their career to be established in the academic sector from junior lecturer to senior professor. However, this upward curve towards seniority needs years of hard efforts as well as great persistence. Over the years, scholars have to keep themselves consistently engrossed in higher study, publication, teaching, learning, and networking to get promoted to their dream position. Here is a piece of advice for all Ph.D scholars desiring a career boost from their current profile to senior faculty member. The stages of transition, discussed here, might be helpful for them. Ph.D to Post-Doc A Post doctorate will essentially add an extra edge to the doctorate candidates’ profile. This will enhance their research experience and credibility as well. 1.Establish a good rapport with Ph.D supervisor: keeping a good relationship with the Ph.D supervisor is very necessary because they primarily refer the candidates’ name. 2.Keep publishing constantly: A potential candidate should always try to strengthen their publication section. Publishing as much as in peer-reviewed journals increase their candidature as postdoc fellow. 3.Promoting yourself within the department: If professors, supervisors, senior research fellows know a candidate well, it increases his/her prospective. Therefore, candidates should try to promote themselves within the department by arranging meetings, participating seminars, conferences, and workshops, volunteer teaching and other opportunities to come into notice.

So, try to conduct further researches in different areas applying different kind of methodologies to prove your potentiality. Postdoc to Lecturer This is the next stage of transition. 1.Be persistent, vocal, and spirited: You must be determined of your career objectives. Make everybody aware of what you want to achieve, so that they can’t disrupt you in your way towards. If you get rejected at your first attempt, apply again with full preparation. 2.Continue Publishing: Even if you move to lectureship, don’t stop publishing your research papers. This will broaden your knowledge and skill as well as your prospective. 3.Apply for lectureship exams: There are many organizations that grant candidates’ eligibility as lecturers via national level exams. Try to sit for those exams to earn your eligibility. 4.Add additional skills to your profile: To be eligible lecturers, sometimes your degree in the area may not be enough. You should try to earn additional professional qualifications such as diploma or certification in various courses to make you more competitive among others. Lecturer to Senior Professor 1.Be more independent: For seizing senior responsibility, one should be more independent to address his/her self-sufficiency and autonomy. It will prove that person is ready to take the job duty.
