  1.   India: 10 Interesting facts you probably didn’t know    India is a diverse country in terms of culture, tradition, people and more.  Apart from diversity, India has a lot more to offer to the world. Below are some  interesting facts​ you probably didn’t know about this vastly populated country.        The number “0” was discovered in India  ●   Aryabhatta, an Indian mathematician-astronomer, discovered the number 0. The country  is also recognized for its contributions to algebra, trigonometry and calculus.    India’s linguistic diversity  ●   According to the 1961 census, India has 1,652 languages. The main languages spoken  by more than 50 million people are Telegu, Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Urdu and Marathi. Also,  India does not have a national language, as both Hindi and English are considered  official languages.   

  2. World’s largest democracy  ●   India is not only the world’s largest democracy but also has the largest number of  voters. To put it in context, almost 540 million people voted in the 2014 general  elections.    Fastest growing population  ●   By 2028, India is expected to overtake China to become the world’s most populous  country, according to the United Nations.    Shampoo was invented by Indians  ●   The first shampoo with traditional herbs was ​invented in India​. The word ‘shampoo’ is  derived from the Sanskrit word ‘champu’ meaning ‘to massage.’    Kumbh Mela is visible from space  ●   The gathering at this Hindu pilgrimage is so large that it can be visible from space. In  2011, more than 75 million pilgrims partook in the event.    Water on the moon  ●   In September 2009, Chandryaan -1, India’s space organization’s moon vehicle,  discovered water on the moon for the first time.    World’s biggest family  ●   Mizoram, a state in northeast India, houses the world’s biggest family. The staggering  181-member family includes Ziona Chana and his 39 wives, 94 children, 33  grandchildren and 14 daughters-in-law. They all live together in a house of a hundred  rooms.    The biggest producer of mangoes  ●

  3.   With an annual production of 1.2 million, India is the world’s biggest producer of  mangoes. Also, a little over 40% of the mango output of the world comes from India.  The sea link in Mumbai has steel wires equal to Earth’s circumference    The Bandra-Worli Sea Link in Mumbai is iconic. The steel wires are equal to the Earth’s  circumference and each of the cables can hold 900 tons of weight.
