Major Drug Manufacturer Launches Generic Drug in US in an Effort to Provide EffectiveWilson's Disease Treatment Wilson's disease, also known as hepatolenticular degeneration, is a rareinherited disorder caused due to excess accumulation of copper in the organs. Wilson's disease treatment with Ayurveda is aimed at treating the known cause, reducing morbidity, and treating the presenting symptoms. Medicines used are: Triphala-Guggulu, Medohar Guggulu, Punarnavadi-Guggulu, Punarnavadi- Qadha, Gokshuradi-Guggulu, Punarnavadi-Qadha, Gomutra-Haritaki and Chandraprabha-Vati. Herbal medicines which can be used in this condition are: Amalaki (Emblica officinalis), Haritaki (Terminalia chebula), Manjishtha (Rubia cordifolia), Saariva (Hemidesmus indicus), Haridra (Curcuma longa), Patol (Tricosanthe dioica), Patha (Cissampelos pareira), Musta (Cyperus rotundus), Kutki (Picrorrhiza kurroa), Tulsi (Ocimum sanctum), Nimba (Azadirachta indica), Khadeer (Acacia catechu) and Bhrungraj (Eclipta Alba). Wilson's disease treatment is aimed at reducing the severity of symptoms and improving the overall functioning of the liver. This includes an increase in liver function, improvement in immunity, and prevention of progression of the disease to point at worse health. To achieve these aims, patients are advised to take small amounts of medication, to control nausea, vomiting and sweating. Special efforts are made to reduce blood serum bilirubin levels. The management of Wilson's disease mainly focuses on early symptoms and adverse events. Generally, patients begin with an initial course of anti-DPA or other NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti- inflammatory drugs). Azathioprine (Imuran) and mercaptopurine (Purinethol) are used to reduce the severity of nausea, vomiting and sweating. Other medications, such as methotrexate (Myristoleum cent) and sulfasalazine (Asanil) are used to treat nausea, vomiting, and loss of

At the maximum dosage, medicines like haloperidol, carbamazepine, quetiapine, lamotrigine, propoxuric acid, terazoloprid, etorphine and mesotheraphy can also be used in order to prevent neurological deterioration. Treatment is further assisted by the use of liver-cleansing and autolytic drugs. In an effort to provide effectiveWilson's disease treatment, in August 2020, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories launched generic Penicillamine capsules in the U.S market.
