  3. ABOUTUNIVERSITY Indian Institute of Science Bangalore (IISC Bangalore) is a research University in the city of Bangalore, Karnataka. The institute has produced graduates like V. K Aatre and Sudha Murty, among many other notable scientists and graduates. The institute presently has as many as 3842 graduates. The annual budget of the institute is close to a 1000 cr INR, and its annual subscription to numerous journals alone costs 15 cr INR. The institute is the brainchild of JRD Tata and stands today among the IVY leagues of Institutes for Sciences in the whole world while subsequently maintaining its reputation as the top institute of India. Campus Spread over 400 acres, the campus sits in the urban area of North Bangalore. The campus houses all the amenities required (listed in our infrastructure section). Furthermore, the campus is lush green and features tres like Gulmohar, silver oak, and mahogany.

  6. HISTORY The History of IISC Bangalore goes as far as 1893. However, the institute was established in 1911 when the foundation stone was led by the Maharaja of Mysore. Soon the first batch was started. Below is a brief timeline of the institute. In 1898 Jamsetji Tata wrote to swami Vivekananda about setting up an institute (IISC) 1898, and Lord Curzon approves the draft regarding the setting up of the institute. Subsequently, donation's in the form of land and money were received by Tata, Krishna Raja wadiyar IV, state of Karnataka, Nizam of Hyderabad for setting up of the institute in 1909. The constitution of the institute receives ascent from Lord Minto1911 University starts operation with two departments then forming another department in the same year. Thus the First batch of students was enrolled in 1911. Since then, and the institute has metamorphized in more ways than one and seen vast improvements and changes. Jumping to recent years, the institute stood recipient of "Institute of eminence" in 2018.

The Hostels sit in green spaces and feature a courtyard and parking spaces.   10. FAQ Is IISc better than IIT? There is no one-word answer to this question. However, if one compares the statistics of placements of top IIT and IISC, one will find that the packages at IIT are higher than that of IISC. IISC is more of a research-oriented institute where students develop extraordinary sciences and technologies, whereas IITs are more focused on skill development. Thus the students in IISC are majorly doctoral, and in IIT, its bachelor's degree students. Now to answer it in short, there are many ways in which IISC is ahead of IIT's, and there are some pointers where IIT leads ahead. Overall it is safe to say IISC is the winner if placements are ignored and if placements are taken into account, then there is no winner since IISC also has decent placements. How can I enroll in IISc? It depends on which level one is looking to apply for. For UG, one needs to have a minimum of 60% marks in 10+2 and additionally needs to clear JEE or NEET. For PG, one is required to have cleared UG and then, depending on the course chosen, must clear respective entrance exams like GATE, IIT JAM, JEST, etc. .
