Set up under the Private University Act, however, it is planned as a people's university. It is an establishment for the whole individuals of Assam. In addition to Core and Generic Courses, a student of B.A. (Major) shall choose four Discipline Specific Elective (DSE) Courses, two in each last two semesters. University also offers two Ability Enhancement Compulsory Courses (AECC) distributed in the first two semesters of the undergraduate program. Apart from that, a student is to provide two Skill Enhancement Courses (SEC) spread across the third and fourth semesters.

  6. HISTORY Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankaradeva (1449-1568) was a multi- talented virtuoso. After that, it changed and modernized Assamese society with his libertarian philosophy. He was interested in religion, writing, music, dance, show, design, social remaking. Mahapurusha translated most pieces of the Bhagavata Mahapurana into the Assamese language.
