3. INDIAN INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE EDUCATION & RESEARCH,BHOPAL IISER B, also known as the Indian Institute of Science and Research, is a public research institute of immense value. It was established in the year 2008. The foundation stone was laid by Human Resource Development Minister late. Shri Arjun Singh. The institute is a part of IISER (Indian Institute of Science and Education Research), an initiative by the MHRD. IISER Bhopal presently is a proud sharer of the title with six other IISERs within the country. Most graduating students at IISER Bhopal chooses either to pursue higher education or seeks placements. Campuses The campus is full of lush greenery and sits by a hillside. It houses academic complexes, Residential Houses, and sports arenas, among others. The total campus area is about 200 acres. The campus is at least 20 km away from the nearest railway stations and 20 minutes away from the airport. One needs to take a cab to reach the campus either from the airport or from any of the two nearest railwaystations.

HISTORY Indian Institute of Science Education & Research, Bhopal, was established in the year 2008 as per the Guidelines of Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER) developed by the MHRD (Ministry of Human Resource Development). The institute was set up to provide collegiate education in the field of basic sciences. IISERs, however received their formal recognition in 2010 when the Government passed in the parliament an amendment in 2010 inthe act of National Institute of Technology 2007. In its thirteen years of operation, the institute has developed numerous course programs and infra to support and expand itsvision.

The state of the library has a huge database of subscriptions for e-books journals and research papers of both foreign and national capacities. In addition to digitalized resources the library has a huge collection of books as it acquires almost 2758 sq. mt of space and also houses three reading halls which together can accommodate as many as 600 readers at atime. The computer Centre serves all the computing and network services for thecampus.

8. Career DevelopmentCentre The career Development center formerly known as the placement center ensures that students get chances for pre-placement offers and placements. The department works for onboarding companies and recruiters for placements of new graduates. The career development center’s Web app called IRIS makes it easy for the recruiter to easily recruit students. Additionally, the institute has developed an incubator program called STEP where the entrepreneurial spirit in students is nourished and made into fine entrepreneurs the incubator helps students to secure funds and provides office spaces aswell. Health CareCentre The health care facility has dedicated doctors available 24*7. Additionally, emergency ambulances are also available. Students can consult the in-house doctor for any kind of health-related issues for free. Furthermore, students also get medicalinsurance. Hostel &canteen Hostels are categorized into building blocks on the campus more than 4500 students call the Hostels their home. Furthermore, among the 17 Hostels, 12 are for boys and 5 for girls. All the Hostels have WI-FI and Power Backup. In-house laundry and transportation facilities are also available in theHostel. Sports The sports department has two full-time sports and sports assistants and one full-time physical director who not only helps students with sports and physical activity but also organizes sports events. The college has both indoor and outdoor sportingspaces. Students get to play sports like football, cricket, badminton, and volleyball. Likewise indoor sports like chess, table tennis are also available. The campus also houses an international standard swimmingpool.

9. Courses The institute has a sum total of ten departments. Thirty-one courses are offered across these departments. The faculty is highly intelligible and knowledgeable. 96% of the faculty of IISER Bhopal is Ph.D. Moreover, four types of courses are available, which include Bachelors of Science, integrated program for bachelors and Master of Science, integrated Ph.D. program, and normal master and Ph.D. program.
