3. Indian Institute ofTechnology Patna The Indian Institute of Technology Patna, also known as IIT Patna or IIT P, was established in the Year 2008 by an act of parliament. Kapil Sibal laid the foundation stone for the permanent campus in early 2011, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the campus in the year 2015. The college is located in a rural setting at Bitha, Bihar. Over the years, the college has produced successful students from varied backgrounds in Engineering. 5. HISTORY IIT Patna was set up by an Act of Parliament on August 6, 2008. The institute has since then functioned on the 10-acre premises of Naveen Government Polytechnic. A sum totalof 501 acres of Land was mandated towards the development of IIT Patna’s permanent campus. The foundation stonewas laid by Shri Kapil Sibal in 2011 3 years after IIT Patna’s conceptualization. In 2015 the campus opened its arms for students from various parts of the country. 9. Courses IIT Patna offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs primarily. Students need to appear for JEE advance and GATE for admission into the primary courses. In addition to UG and PG, IITP also offers courses on M.Sc and Ph.D. The Courses offered at the UG level are in computer science and engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, civil and environmental engineering, chemical engineering, and lastly in metallurgical and materials engineering. Sum total of nine courses is offered at the PG level.
