  3. National Institute of Technology, NIT Jamshedpur Established on 15 August 1960, NIT Jamshedpur is in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, and is one of India's 32 NITs. Besides, it was a Regional Institute of Technology but later on 27 December 2002, and it got upgraded to NIT, which is under the supervision of MHRD, Indian Govt. The university also is third in the series of 8 NITs set up as part of the Government of India's second five-year plan (1956- 1961). The All-India Council for Technical Education has given its approval to the college (AICTE). NIT Jamshedpur has 12 divisions and 150 supportive and managerial personnel. The college provides various UG, PG and doctoral programmes, in several specialisations, for example, architecture, physics, computer applications,etc. The National Institute of Technology has 12 departments, including engineering, humanities, and science. With 200 faculty members, 4000 learners, and 150 staff members, the university is fully self-sufficient in the miles of hilly, forested terrain. It also brings natural elegance to the campus with the city's magnificence. Bubbling river on the one hand, as well as picturesque, rural hills on the other, it's been on the rise since 1960. HISTORY National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur was founded as the Regional Institute of Technology in 1960 by Dr. Sri Krishna Sinha, the then Chief Minister of thestate of Bihar(unpartitioned). The date of15 August, Independence Dayin India, was chosen for the laying of the foundation stone. It was among the first eight Regional Engineering Colleges (RECs) established as partof the Second Five-Year Plan (1956–1961). It now serves as the NIT for the newly carved state of Jharkhand, while NIT Patnaserves as the NIT for the state of Bihar
