  1. How to time your social network posts for the maximum impact

  2. If you take the time to write a tweet, a Facebook post, or a blog entry, you want people to read it. More than that, you want as many people to read it as possible. Maximizing your audience is something of a science, but you’d be surprised to learn just how easy it is to increase your readership. • Over at Buffer, there is great interest in maximizing the efficiency of social network usage. The service can be used to manage multiple social networks from one place, and the team behind it has collected together research into social posting to help determine how best to use each one, specifically when it comes to deciding when to make that post.

  3. Timing on Twitter The popularity of Twitter means that just about any time is a good time to post. That said, there are peak periods. Research by Dan Zarella found that, perhaps unsurprisingly, click through rates (CTR) are higher at the weekend. During the weeks there are peaks and troughs to take into account — there’s a spike in CTR in the middle of the week, but you also need to think about days individually. Twitter quietens down in the small hours of the morning, so this clearly isn’t the best time to post your biggest news, but there is a large audience during morning commuting hours and from lunch time through the afternoon. There is another jump in activity from around 7pm. Other research has shown that if you want to earn yourself as many retweets as possible, 5pm is the time to aim for. But if you’re looking for clicks, the peak lies between noon and 6pm.
