  1. Preventing and destroying algae in the aquarium. Guide 2021 Almost anyone with a plantation aquarium may encounter the most common problem with plantation aquarium: algae! And for many beginners, algal blooms are a nasty headache and can prompt a person to give up the hobby. Therefore, I will help all the hobbyists who are fighting the problem of algae in their tank. w Algae good or bad? First, make it clear whether algae are good or bad for your tank. The presence of algae in the tank is not a big deal as it is obvious and normal. And a little beneficial. But if left unchecked, it can easily spiral out of control and lead to unwanted growth. The worst part is when it covers the glass of the tank or the leaves of the plants. Algae give your tank a more natural look and serve as the primary nutrition for your fish. So our aim is not to eliminate the algae but to keep it under control and avoid the damage caused by it. Prevention. We all know, prevention is better than cure, and that's what we should do- stop the growth of algae. The best way to do this is by maintaining good water quality. Regularly checking and maintaining water parameters will prevent conditions that foster algae growth. Algae thrive on excess nutrients, nitrates, and iron and phosphorus, so keeping it under control will keep algae under control.

  2. Clean healthy water It is very important to maintain correct and constant parameters of water. Dirty water, high toxin levels can contribute to the growth of algae. It is necessary to change the water from time to time. Inedible food and fish waste contribute to water quality degradation and thus 75% of the water should be changed every 2 weeks to avoid accumulation of nitrates. In case of persistent algae problems, consider a complete water change and recycling as well. If you are in doubt about tap water then use RO water, and if using tap water always add dechlorinator and sometimes water conditioner available in stores. It is important to have a good and efficient filtration system. This plays a big role in keeping nitrates away and maintaining consistent water quality in the tank. Use good quality filters and filter media keeping in mind the size of the tank. Also, it is very important to keep those filters clean. Not all filters are designed to remove algae, so it's important to choose a powerful and efficient filter. Using premium grade carbon would be very useful to reduce the excess nutrients. If you find that your filter is not able to help you with the algae problem, getting better filter media is essential. Feeding The Beast. Overfeeding is the root cause of many aquarium problems. And here too, overfeeding will lead to the accumulation of excess and unwanted nutrition in the tank, which will help the algae to thrive. That's why proper food is important. Feeding too much will invite lots and lots of algae. Feed only what your fish can finish in 2 minutes and remove any uneaten food left in the tank. Feed on alternate days and if you are feeding homemade food like peas or spinach, don't forget to change the water immediately.
