  2. Waimea Botanical Garden Tour While visiting Waimea, Hawaii, you should take a Waimea botanical garden tour. The place is full of Hawaiian art, crafts, and culture. The staff is friendly ◦ and has a wealth of information to share. The gardens host luaus and educational programs on a regular basis. Admission is free, and the gardens are open year-round. Waimea Valley's world-class botanical collections include hundreds of unique gardens with plants from all over the world. The Ogasawara Islands, Central ◦ and South America, Fiji, Guam, and the Mascarene Islands are only a few examples. Enjoy a variety of native Hawaiian plants, many of which are rare and endangered, as you stroll around the Hawaiian collection. Many came here as seedlings or cuttings from their original habitats. History of the Garden ◦ Charlie Pietsch II, who owned Waimea Valley in the early 1970s, had the idea to establish a botanical garden. From 1973 to 1998, he employed Keith ◦ Woolliams as the botanical garden's director. At the Royal Botanical Gardens, Kew graduate Keith was in charge of bringing in a lot of unusual and interesting plants from all around the world. It became ◦ significantly more difficult to transport plant material across international borders by the early 1990s. Keith promoted the conservation of designated heirloom food crops and directed Waimea's efforts to protect the rarest flora in Hawai'i's dryland forests.

  3. Waimea Botanical Garden Tour ◦ "Aunty Coco's" Lei Garden ◦ The plants in the Lei garden yield flowers, seeds, and leaves with color, smell, longevity, and rarity for manufacturing Lei. The Lei has come to represent friendship, love, and trust in Hawai'i today. It is presented as an honor gift to guests and friends. ◦ Lei's origins can be traced back to Southern Asia. As people traveled from place to place, the materials used to make Lei were replaced, and the rituals and the justifications for them also underwent modifications. ◦ In March and September, the majority of the plants in this garden bloom profusely. The lei garden honors Aunty Coco Leong, a loving Kupuna and member of the Waimea Valley Ohana who died in September 2015. ◦ There are other different activities you can do while touring Hawaii. You can go on an Oahu hidden gems tour or enjoy the usual fun times on the famous Hawaii beaches. ◦ Book the activities you want to experience by contacting Go Tour Hawaii. https://gotourshawaii.com/
