  1. CASE STUDY MRO Data Standardization Wearhouse walkdown, supplier engagement, and data enrichment About the Client Our client is a multinational energy company with operations focused in France, Canada, and Middle East, in areas such as – natural gas, electricity generation, and petroleum. The need for indirect material stock as per requirement is essential for the functioning of day to day activities, which would translate to optimizing the inventory. To make this possible they contacted Enventure, as it was the best solution to get a hold of the MRO indirect material database updated and accurate. ChAllenGeS Handling huge amounts of database that are spread across systems with no proper record of being updated and several duplications with no proper knowledge about OEM parts posed some serious challenges. A few of them are listed below: Maintenance, warehouse folks spending excess time looking for parts, and not sure if the parts were in stock or needed to be procured. This made the whole process manual, effort intensive, and relied on individuals within each warehouse. Inability to measure actual spend on indirect materials 1 3 Inability to gauge resources for maintenance, with varying degrees of time taken for exactly the same tasks, at different instances. 2 – The aim was to get the entire material database onto SAP/S4 Hana

  2. ApproACh & Solution Enventure employed a 5-stage approach to tackle this problem: Research and analysis: Before commencing the project we made sure to analyse the data at hand and get a clear picture about the – the database, – the challenges ahead, – existing onsite resources, their bandwidth and skill sets Data standardization, cleansing, UNSPSC classification, and enrichment: – Technology: – Usage of Enventure’ s proprietary AI based MDM Tool i.e. PartLinQ – Project management online tool, to access project status, and deliverables at each stage, hence enabling feedback – The team included: – A Project manager, with extensive onsite and offsite experience in handling local and virtual multicultural teams – MRO Engineers from across streams with mechanical, instrumentation and electrical expertise. These engineers have experience in working across industries such as – Energy, mining, manufacturing, oil & gas, etc. – Quality control professionals, headed by a Black Belt with over 35 years industry experience in quality assurance 1 5 Material master database blueprinting: – Setting the business rules and standards – Taxonomy creation for each category – Finalizing the output template that is a SAP S4 Hana up-loadable file 2 Client stakeholder discussions: – Further discussions with the clients’ team gave us a practical view of the task ahead, distance between warehouses, how each warehouse is organized, rack heights, etc., and through some field research we gained a practical view of accurately gauging the quantum of work ahead. During this research and analysis phase, we also got in touch with the client project manager which was essential to collaboratively solve each challenge. 3 the impact − Low total cost of ownership. − Entire database of indirect materials categorized by product category in SAP/S4 Hana. − The materials organized within each warehouse in accordance with SAP format. Warehouse walk down, and supplier engagement. – Supplier engagement was a limited number of cycles, iterative process with information from field i.e. warehouse. 4 200, West Madison Suite 2100, PMB 725 Chicago, IL 60606 +1 872 201 8485 info@optimizemro.com powered by www.optimizemro.com
