  1. Point of Presence (PoP) Data Centers PoP is the new culture among data centers. The cloud is getting crowded and its result could be slow responses to your internet searches. Many tech Goliaths and other IT companies are setting up local hubs or Point of Presence (PoP) data centers in high internet usage areas, to speed up their responses to internet queries. A point-of-presence (PoP) is the physical location where two or more types of communication devices establish a connection. Think of PoP as your speed-dial for internet search responses. If a contact is not on your speed-dial, you’ll look for it in your main address book, right? Similarly, answers to internet data that is popularly searched for, will be stored in these PoP micro data centers. If PoP receives a query for the first time for a specific content and it cannot fulfill it, then the request will be sent to the main data center. Now when someone requests popular content from the internet, that request passes through localized network locations/ PoPs that are much closer to the user than the traditional data center warehouses in another state. Obviously, the response to the query will be much quicker. For enabling PoP data centers, mobile telecom networks and data networks are merging into a cloud computing architecture. Placing data centers closer to end users as a way to reduce the number of jumps needed is getting increasingly important. As data centers gear towards more real-time processing, efficiency is critical. Point of Presence (PoP) data centers support content delivery networks for service providers, along with increased use of network functions, virtualization and software-defined networking. Extending physical infrastructure into new regions reduces latency for customers in those regions. This gives users more backup location options, reduces data transport costs (for both users and cloud providers themselves), and helps organizations comply with data-location apply. Computing, power and storage capabilities are inserted directly on the network to lower transport time and improve availability. regulations, wherever they All the major tech companies are installing their PoP data centers worldwide. The logistics of infrastructure, cable, power and cooling are all required to run a PoP data center, just like the traditional ones. The locations are strategically selected keeping in mind the current demand, scalability and sustainability of these PoP data centers. Here are some types of PoP Data Centers:

  2. Gigabit Point of Presence (GigaPoP): A gigabit point of presence (GigaPoP) is an individual access point to something called Internet2 that represents a high-speed IP network maintained by universities and other parties. Gigabit Points of Presence typically support data transfer speeds of 1 Gigabit per second or more. Over 200 schools and universities, industry groups and other members maintain a structure that delivers data transfer rates above 1 Gigabit per second. Multiple Points of Presence (MPoP): Multiple points of presence (MPoP) is a concept in networking and communication-applications that a user can be present at different communication methods at the same time. For example, a person might be present at a computer, a desk phone and a mobile phone at the same time. MPoP is supported by many unified communication-applications. Many communications programs, like instant messaging clients, can report presence information on whether a user is available, away or busy. With the move toward unified communications in the enterprise, presence can get more complicated. A user might be unavailable at a desk phone but reachable by mobile phone. With a single Point of Presence, a user is only available in one place at a time, but with multiple points of presence, users can be reachable by multiple contact methods at once. Mushrooming of PoPs makes consistency imperative, in delivering results. Companies cannot physically manage the requirements of the various PoPs worldwide. With IT staff in five continents, Rahi Systems has an array of IT solutions and a seasoned team of network engineers, logistics and IT support to ensure the smooth running of the new PoP data centers.
