  1. Do-it-Yourself Roach Control How to Do Your Own Roach Control

  2. Step #1: Sanitation The cleaner your house is the better. Always keep all food and water sources sealed in your home. This doesn’t just mean not leaving things out in the kitchen, you need to seal them shut where they are stored. You also need to fix leaky faucets, etc. Vacuum often to pick up food crumbs and any eggs laid by other insects. In addition to keeping the regular things in the kitchen clean, cockroaches can also survive on the grease build up behind the stove, so make sure to clean that as well.

  3. Step #2: Use Roach Control Products Roach bait is one of the most effective solutions to an infestation. See this video to learn how to apply roach bait effectively. Roach sprays are also effective for killing roaches. Spraying into cracks and crevasses where cockroaches hide will kill them and help prevent an infestation. Roach IGRs (insect growth regulators) are important because they help prevent roaches from duplicating. IGRs are basically birth control for insects. This is an effective method of roach control because they populate so quickly.

  4. Step #3: Be Persistent As mentioned in the previous slide, cockroaches reproduce quickly, and your control efforts must be persistent enough to exceed their growth rate. This is why IGRs are so important.

  5. Tip: Use Multiple Methods • With roach control, it’s crucial that you use multiple methods. Using just one tactic, like cleaning up, will not be enough. The main roach control tactics are: • Roach bait • Roach spray • Roach IGRs (insect growth regulators) • Roach traps • Cleaning up

  6. The Don’ts Don’t apply roach spray around your roach baits. This will prevent the cockroaches from getting to the bait! Don’t use just one approach. Try several to see what works in your home. Don’t underestimate cockroaches. They are very enduring creatures. Don’t give up. While resilient, cockroaches will die when you use the right products.

  7. The Do’s Do… your own roach control! A roach infestation can generally be taken care of by yourself. Just use professional grade roach bait, IGRs and other roach control products, follow the directions, and you will get them under control.
