  1. Leslie Kavanaugh Explains Bad Habits Artists Should Avoid

  2. Being an artist can be a demanding profession! It necessitates almost constant creative thought and implies that you are constantly creating new things! It has had a significant impact on many different artists over time.

  3. To have a long and successful career as an artist, you must avoid these common bad habits. They are the coping mechanisms that suffocate you and your creative process over time. Here are six of the most common bad habits to avoid, explained by Leslie Kavanaugh.

  4. Don’t Get Art Insights from Just One Source Often, artists will find an art style or an artist to emulate and become stuck in that rut. They do not venture further outside of their comfort zone in search of new inspiration or teachers. As a result, artists are less well-rounded and may even be a rainfed version of their original inspiration! To avoid this, take many virtual art classes or look for schools to get inspiration from. 02 03 04

  5. The key is to look for inspiration everywhere and in all types of art! Finding new art that you enjoy or being inspired by different pieces will allow you to incorporate a particular style into your own work and add a whole new level of interest to your work! It will also teach you new and intriguing techniques you may not have thought of before!

  6. Don’t Stop Publishing Your Art on Social Media To be sure, social media can be difficult to manage and keep up with. However, in today's world, it is the best method for showcasing your art and getting your work out there. It will also assist you in gaining a fan base and potential buyers! When an artist is explored on social media and begins creating art for a living, their posts often slow down. Sometimes they are working on a large project that they are unable to share, or they are overburdened with paid projects and do not have time for their personal work. It is a mistake in today's world, where social media is so prevalent.

  7. Don’t Overpriortize Your Business This bad habit usually develops when you start working with other people. It is enticing to keep meetings focused solely on business and to complete projects as quickly as possible. Working with others is a natural reaction because it induces you to feel more successful and as if you accomplished something quickly.

  8. However, the people you work with will become important to your career and your life over time! It's fine to be yourself and have a distinct personality. Developing positive working relationships is essential in any career, and art is no exception! It may be tempting to keep things strictly business, but developing REAL relationships will result in better work in the long run.

  9. Becoming jaded in a sector is as challenging to break into as the arts is easy. However, developing these bad habits can make your work more difficult than it needs to be. To avoid getting stuck in this rut, remember to keep growing and learning as an artist throughout your career, and stay clear of the bad habits explained by Leslie Kavanaugh.
