  1. LEED Certification Company The U.S. Green Building Council, one of the LEED Certification Companies manages the LEED green building rating system. LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. Since 2003, California has mandated LEED certification for all new construction. The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), a private 502, membership-based non-profit organization that supports sustainability in building design, construction, and operation, and provided LEED Consultancy was co-founded by Mike Italiano, David Gottfried, and Rick Fedrizzi in 1992. The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green building grading systems were created by USGBC and the annual Green build International Conference and Expo, the largest conference and expo in the world devoted to green construction. The World Green Building Council was founded by the USGBC, one of eight national councils (WorldGBC). Peter Templeton is the company's current president and CEO. The USGBC provides a range of LEED Consultant credentials that serve as indicators of knowledge in the field of green construction through its association with the Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI). By giving additional certification points to building projects finished with a LEED-certified expert on the team, USGBC encourages LEED certification. These objectives will be the main emphasis of the USGBC's second generation.

  2. Through the LEED rating system, GBCI tools, LEED Consultancy, advocacy, and education initiatives, USGBC and its community have worked together for more than 24 years to improve the green building and foster a more sustainable society. As the USGBC enters its "second generation" in 2021, we have broadened our vision to acknowledge the crucial work that that must do to improve the future for everyone. Sustainability, health and wellness, resilience, and equity are the four pillars that will guide USGBC over the next 24 years. The challenge before us is to guarantee that all people have equal access to healthy indoor and outdoor spaces and that those areas are maintained following environmental standards. The USGBC Board of Directors, Steven Winter, led from 1998 to 2002, and its highly engaged staff, including Nigel Howard, supported the LEED project. Scot Horst, then the senior vice president of LEED for the USGBC, had previously served as chair of the LEED Steering Committee before joining the organization's staff. Mike Italiano, a co-founder of the USGBC, architects Bill Reed and Sandy Mendler, builders Gerard Heiber and Myron Kibbe, and engineers Richard Bourne were other early members of the LEED committee. Engineers Lynn Barker and Tom Paladino co-chaired the newly established LEED technical committee in 1995 as interest in LEED developed. Since its introduction in 2001, LEED has expanded from a single rating system for new construction to a comprehensive system of nine interconnected rating systems encompassing every stage of the development and construction process. Since LEED's founding, it has expanded from six volunteers on one committee to more than 201 volunteers on almost 20 committees and nearly 201professionals. And it’s obvious that LEED Certification are becoming more and more popular too.
