  1. Looking At Products To Protect Your Ears From Loud Gun And Rifle Fire Every hunter, everyone that visits the shooting range or other area where they expose their ears to loud noise – even when exposure is limited to only the odd occasion when they have to endure loud noise – knows that having to listen to the loud gun and rifle fire constantly can be a very unpleasant experience, especially if this happens fairly often. It is fact that all hunters, all shooters, no matter the reason you are exposed to loud sounds, will attest to varying degrees of discomfort or irritation in terms of which their ears are exposed to loud noise. Therefore it makes sense that one should take those precautions that help to soften the effects of these noises on the ears – whether you are exposed to them often, or only at certain intervals. Ongoing research has shown that damage to a person’s hearing, whether only limited or very serious, comes as a result of exposure to loud sounds such as delivered by gun and rifle fire whether the shooter finds themselves on the practice range, during competition or while out there taking part in wing shoot – or stalking and hunting deer or other animals. It does not really matter where one is exposed to these noises, the effect can harm and damage one’s hearing, even permanently. This means, obviously, that the shooter should look at all the possibilities to protect their ears and hearing from these adverse conditions, i.e. exposure to loud gunfire. Sound levels are recorded in dB, or decibel, which refers to the intensity in terms of which sound is measured; audiologists and other professionals conduct studies all the time to measure the levels of dB that can be entertained before damage to the ears sets in. What is established time and again is that the sound levels produced by gun and rifle fire far extend the levels the ear should be exposed to in order not to receive a certain amount of damage or negative exposure.

  2. The same is, obviously, true for other loud noises, such as constant loud music, certain sounds at work in factories, jet and airplane noise – and a great number of others for the public to be weary of. This has led to concerted efforts by, for example, engineers, technical professionals and audiologists to come up with protection for ears during this type of exposure to loud noise – also for hunters and other shooters. Over time a number of protective gear for ears have been developed, among the first being the earmuff and a choice of foam and other earplugs to insert into the ear prior to shooting, and removing them after shots have been fired. Because there are a few choices available, shooters have certain options to protect their ears during shooting, such as a selection of muffs and plugs to technologically advanced products that offer sound-circuit tech, for example. There is indeed a product for every shooter to either totally eliminate or reduce the worst effects or the loud noise produced by shooting a gun or rifle. Some shooters may actually use a good set of, say, foam plugs with good muffs and feel they have done enough. Others may, however, opt for one of the latest tech options such as the digital devices that some companies design, manufacture and offer to their clients. This, the last category, has made great strides in the last decades as they offer great features to ensure that loud noise is eliminated while pleasant sounds that will not harm one’s hearing, remain audible. These products have been offered for a few years now, and because of their higher than before profile, they have started to make great inroads into the more traditional markets such as those that offer only a foam plug, or a set of muffs. These new products, the digitally advanced ones, have become more popular than many others: they fit perfectly into the ear of the user and can block out loud, damaging noise while till offering the user the ability to hear normal sounds, those at a much lower dB.
