Introduction • Employees working the organisations are constantly under pressure to deliver their best performance which has contributed inn workplace stress (WS) (Ekienabor, 2016; Fairbrother & Warn, 2003). • Organisations are continuously seeking greater employee engagement (EE) so as to develop strong workforce (Caponetti, 2012; Kazimoto, 2016; Patro, 2013). • Proposed research aims to examine the impact of work stress on the employee engagement within the organisation

Introduction • Growing importance of EE in the current business setting has created a greater requirement for researchers to examine the impact of the WS on the EE (Caponetti, 2012; Kazimoto, 2016). • Proposed research would aid managers, students and researchers to acquire boarder understanding of WS and EE • It would also enable the managers to identify intervention measures that would help them to reduce WS within the organisations and promote greater degree of EE

  6. Literature - Causes of Workplace Stress • Employees experience and feel stressed due to a set of various reasons like: • Work overload • Conflicts among the employees and the employer • Inadequate decisions (Fairbrother& Warn, 2003; Naqvi et al. 2013; Bano, & Jha, 2012),

  7. Literature - Role of Employee engagement in an organisation • EE is attached to organizational performance outcomes • Offers competitive advantage • Improves employees as well as organizational performances (Caponetti, 2012;Demerouti, et al., 2004)

  8. Literature - Stress Management • Stress Management (SM) is interventions designed to reduce the impact of stressors in the workplace (Jahanianet al. (2012); Oladinrin et al. (2014). • SM aimed at increasing an individual’s ability to cope with stressors (Kushwaha, 2014; Kaur & Sharma, 2016). • SM attempt to remove the stressors in a role (Kushwaha, 2014; Kaur & Sharma, 2016).

  9. contextualising the proposal in the Literature • The proposed research will abridge the research gaps by: • Clearly identifying the impact of WE on EE • Suggesting possible intervention to reduce the impact of WS on EE

  10. Research Strategy • Proposed study is qualitative research (Creswell, 2013). • Will employ both primary and secondary data collection method (Yin 2009). • Will use semi-structured interview (Saunders et. al. 2009; Bryman & Bell, 2011). • Will apply thematic analysis

  11. Selecting Respondents - Sampling • Proposed research will include 15 employees 5 each from three different organisation and • 6 supervisors 2 each from three different organisation • Will apply convenient sampling technique (Oppong, 2013).

  12. Research Limitations • Interview participants may not offers honest and fair response to the interview question which may further reduce the validity and reliability of the proposed research.
