The term junk food is used to describe any type of food that has been processed in such a way that it is no longer nutritious or beneficial to the body. It may be considered unhealthy because it contains more calories than necessary for its nutritional value, or it may contain an excessive amount of sugar or fat. Junk food is often considered as a very bad habit for children as well as adults. However, there are several studies which have shown that children who consume junk foods regularly are less likely to develop obesity or diabetes later in life. So, what's the deal? Why Are Junk Foods Bad For You? Junk foods contain large amounts of calories with little nutritional value. They often lack vitamins and minerals essential for good health. Junk foods can also lead to obesity, which increases the risk of heart disease and stroke. According to recent studies, eating junk food on a regular basis can also cause depression and irritability among children who suffer from ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder).

A child should not eat too much junk food in a day because it may affect his or her health. He/she should eat healthy foods like fruits, vegetables and milk. The best time to eat junk food is after school or after work. The amount of junk food allowed for a child in a week is dependent on their age, how much they eat and where they live. The standard amount of junk food allowed per week by the government is: A 4-year-old can have up to 2 servings of fruit or vegetables A 5-year-old can have up to 3 servings of fruit or vegetables For children aged 6 and 7, the limit is 4 servings per week. For adolescents between the ages of 11-18 years old, the recommended intake is between 45 percent to 65 percent of total calories from carbohydrates such as breads, cereals and starchy foods like potatoes or pasta; 15 percent to 35 percent should come from fats (including oils); 5 percent to 10 percent must come from protein foods such as meat, dairy products or eggs; 1
