  1. EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT ALLOY STEELS AND THEIR ROLE IN THE ENGINEERING INDUSTRY There are different kinds of steel available in the market such as stainless steel, carbon steel, alloy steel, etc. Each type of steel has its function to perform. They are available in different grades in the marketplace. This blog discusses alloy steel in detail and the factors associated with it such as its grades, classifications, advantages, properties, uses, etc. Alloy steel manufacturers in India fabricate these steels by putting great knowledge together. We will also discuss what is its role in the engineering industry. To know about alloy steel in-depth you have to give this blog a read till the end. This blog

  2. will not only help the people who are looking for alloy steel properties before buying alloy steel. This blog will also help the students who want to know everything about alloy steel for a better understanding. WHAT IS ALLOY STEEL? Alloy steel are steels which have a small amount of one or more elements other than carbon. It has elements like manganese, silicon, nickel, chromium, tin, zinc, aluminium, molybdenum, cobalt, etc. in small amounts. These alloying elements contribute to the property enhancement of the alloy steel so it can perform in a much better way wherever required. When these elements are added to steel, it encounters changes in its property. Due to the high production of alloy steel, there are plenty of alloy steel bars and fittings exporters in India. Properties of alloy Steel Anti-corrosive When this steel is subjected to moisture or chemical industries, it has very less effect of corrosion or no effect at all. This property makes it suitable for its use in various industries, this is the grave reason why it is bought in abundance and manufactured in large quantities. It does not get oxidised easily because the alloying elements added to it enhances its nature. High Strength They undergo cooling treatment that increases their strength and makes it best for industrial use. Alloy steel possesses higher strength than any other steel available in the market due to its great mechanical properties and does not break off easily when some operation is performed upon it. Alloy steel will always have higher strength than carbon steel.

  3. Durable Alloy steel has enhanced physical and mechanical properties due to the addition of the alloying elements, it not only results in high strength but also has higher durability. These are the best fit for construction and chemical industries because these industries seek longer durability and alloy steel has all of it. Enhanced hardenability and better performance Alloy steel exhibits higher hardenability which is a mark of its strength and its capability to withstand high pressures without undergoing any physical change much more easily. This makes it suitable for high pressure and high-temperature applications. These properties result in a better performance of alloy steels. Classification of Alloy Steel Alloy steel can be classified into various types, some most commonly used alloy steels are: Low Alloy Steel When nickel, chromium, molybdenum, and other alloying elements consist of less than 10.5% by the weight they are defined as low alloy steels such as nickel steel, weathering steel, etc. Low alloy steel has better strength and is corrosion resistant. It also exhibits properties like good strength, great yield strength, high heat resistance etc. It is used for making defence vehicles, construction equipment, pipelines, pressure valves, etc. High Alloy Steel High alloy steel contains alloying elements of more than 10.5% by weight. They are costly and special-purpose alloys of steel. For example- stainless steel. High-speed

  4. steel, etc. Stainless steel is steel with a high degree of corrosion and chemical resistance. It has anti-corrosive properties due to its high chromium content. There are plenty of stainless steel suppliers and manufacturers available in India that provide the best deals to the people. Stainless steel has further classifications such as plane chromium steel and high chromium-nickel steel. Plain chromium-nickel steel has 0.8% carbon content and 12 to 20% chromium content present in it. High chromium low nickel steel has 0.2% carbon content, 12-20% chromium and 2% nickel present in it. Properties of these steels can be modified by heat treatment. These steels can be used in making valves, domestic utensils, pipe fittings, etc. Chromium-Nickel Steel These steels contain chromium and nickel in different ratios. There are other elements present too in this steel like copper, molybdenum, tungsten, etc. but in small quantities. They have poor electrical and heat conductivity but are highly corrosion resistant. Tool Steel They are tungsten alloyed steel containing about 0.7% of carbon, 18% of tungsten, 4% of chromium and 1% of vanadium. It is also called 18-4-1 steel. The alloying elements like tungsten, chromium, vanadium from carbides leads to the high hardness of tool steel. Tool steel is special steel that is well suited for making mechanical tools like drills, saw blades, etc. They resist deformation at high pressures and temperatures which makes it favourable for engineering industries too. Role of alloy steel in Engineering Industries It is quite clear from the above data that alloy steel exhibits many great properties like high tensile strength, better performance, increased hardenability, corrosion resistant

  5. property, deformation-resistant property in high temperature and pressure applications. Having all these properties in one thing is nearly impossible but alloying steel makes it possible. Due to these properties engineering industries use it because they need such steel to support the work of the large buildings or structures they create and there cannot be anything better than alloy steel for such purpose. There are plenty of alloy steel suppliers and manufacturers available in India that provide the best deals to the people. It has long durability and enhanced properties due to which every engineer chooses it over any other kind of steel. Alloy steel is used in sporting large buildings and fabricating tools used in the construction and engineering industry such as bars, rods, wires, cutting tools, gates, belts, window frames, pipe fittings, etc. Alloy steel manufacturers in India
