And you wonder if that can be true for your carpets. Children, pets, and heavy traffic can make you carpet look old and worn out, and replacing it is way too expensive, so another option is to hire a cleaning company to clean them for you. Carpet cleaning companies are all over the place, you can see their ads on billboards, in the phone book, and can usually find coupons in your local newspaper. These companies are a dime a dozen, and before you pick up the phone to schedule an appointment, make sure you do your research and find the company that offers the services you need. Not all companies will have the appropriate cleaning abilities for your home. Make sure of this before you call them out to do an estimate, because even though they may not be able to suit your needs, they may charge you a fee for coming out to look at your home. There are four main types of carpet cleaning that are used for residential carpet cleaning; shampoo, dry clean, steam clean, and foam cleaning. Not all cleaning companies offer all of these methods of cleaning. No matter what company you chose to use, the first thing any of them should do is vacuum the carpet. The get the best deep clean for your carpet the loose dirt and debris needs to be removed before any wet or foam solution is applied to the carpet. Shampooing is considered the least effective method of cleaning the carpet. This process applies a considerable amount of water and solution to the carpet, and then vacuums up "some" of the water. It is impossible to remove all of the carpet shampoo and water from the carpet, which can damage the carpet backing and lead to mildew and mold build up under the carpet padding. The initial results look good, but do not last as long as other methods. Some companies use the dry cleaning option. This method does not require the use of any water in your carpets. Instead, it uses a special powder that attracts the dirt deep in the carpet, and then simply gets vacuumed up. There is less chance of the carpet getting damaged during this process, but it is not completely effective on removing the all of the dirt and stains from the carpet.

  2. Another option is the foam cleaning, which is a combination of dry cleaning and shampooing. It does use some water to clean with this method but not near as much as just shampooing the carpet. It utilizes "dry" foam that is spread over the entire carpet, and then worked into the carpet with a scrubber, and then allowed to dry completely and then the carpet gets vacuumed. This works better than dry cleaning, but is still not the most effective method of cleaning carpets. Steam cleaning is the most common method that carpet cleaning companies can offer. This method uses hot steam that is dispensed through a wand attachment, and penetrates deep in to the carpet to break up deep down dirt and stains. This uses quite a bit less water than shampooing, and also kills viruses and bacteria that may be living in your carpets. The remaining moisture is then extracted from the carpet by a powerful vacuum. Make sure to find the carpet cleaning companies that offer the method of cleaning you are looking for, and they offer some type of warranty on their work, in case some type of damage may occur to your carpet.
