How do you measure it? What should the specifications be? Does the radio meet the specifications?

  6. Proposed testbed: Curaçao, Netherlands Antilles The Dutch Antilles intend to become a leader in Cognitive Radio. To achieve this goal a collaborative effort under leadership of the Delft University of Technology has been initiated. Goal: develop an heterogeneous auction-based DSA (Dynamic Spectrum Access) system.   8. Curaçao Testing Environment Curaçao is the largest of the three so called ABC islands (for Aruba, Bonaire, and Curaçao) of the Leeward Antilles. It has a land area of 444 square kilometers (171 square miles). As of 1 January 2008, it had a population of 140,796. Almost 600,000 people visit Curaçao annually, mostly from Western Europe and the Americas. The whole island is available for the testbed. The Ministry of Transport intends to provide facilities to support cognitive radio tests. Those facilities can be used to simulate the RF environment of different regions of the world. Furthermore the Antillean government intends to “group test” common challenges that are being faced in developing (TVBD) applications for next generation networks. It will allow use of equipment by the local population if this helps Cognitive initiatives to gather valuable data and reach their point of maturity earlier. At the moment additional support from the technical faculty of the University of the Dutch Antilles is being discussed. We ask for input from the industry to help define the required facilities.
