The umbilical hernia is a type of hernia in which the hernia develops in the abdominal wall around the belly button. This condition is common in infants as well as adults. Umbilical hernia runs a risk of getting larger, painful, and uncomfortable as more of the sac gets pushed out. In adults the hernia does not go away on its own and needs treatment. In most children umbilical hernia goes away on its own but it can become incarcerated or enlarged and may require surgery. Pain, nausea, inability to pass gas and vomiting are common symptoms of a complicated umbilical hernia. Looking For Umbilical hernia surgery in Mumbai then Dr. Aparna Govil Bhasker is one of the best Surgeon for hernia treatment.

  3. Causes of Umbilical hernia • The umbilical cord normally closes just after birth but if the muscles are weak and don’t join properly then this opening does not close and the hernia pushes through the midline of the abdominal wall. In adults the causes include • Recent pregnancy • Obesity • Multiple pregnancies • Fluid in abdomen • Previous stomach surgeries • Kidney failure treatments • Chronic health conditions such as ascites, cough, enlarged prostate, constipation, vomiting • Umbilical hernia is more common in women and has a high morbidity rate and mortality than the commonly occurring inguinal hernia.

  4. Umbilical Hernia surgery cost in Mumbai • The solution for this type of hernia is surgery. Umbilical hernia surgery is simple procedure and takes about 20-30 minutes to complete. The patient can go home the next day if no complications arise. The procedure • A small cut is made at the base of the belly button • The herniated tissue is pushed back in the abdominal cavity • If necessary the surgeon might use a surgical mesh to strengthen the abdominal wall • The muscle layers are then strengthened using stiches and the incisions closed • Smaller umbilical hernia can be repaired laparoscopically also. • Basically surgery cost depends upon the patient condition and health because it may differ upon patient health too. • Recovery after the surgery takes about three weeks and it is best to avoid any strenuous physical activity during that time. Complications after umbilical hernia repair are very rare.
