  1. Ethanol and Its Uses in the Modern World Ethanol, a product belonging to the category of alcohol, is also known by the names of ethyl alcohol or grain alcohol. This colorless liquid is the primary ingredient in alcoholic beverages such as wine, beer or brandy. It gets easily dissolved in water and other organic compound, so it acts like an important ingredient in a wide range of products. From beauty to personal care products and paints to varnishes, ethanol gathers demands from a variety of industries. Ethanol It can be obtained naturally through plant fermentation. Additionally, it can also be produced through the hydration of ethylene. Ethanol is an important industrial chemical that is used as a solvent. Uses and applications This organic chemical is widely used in the industrial and consumer products. The primary industrial application of ethanol is as an intermediate product to aid in the production of various other chemicals, and as a solvent. Additionally, it is also used in the manufacturing of plastics, medicines, polishes, cosmetics, and others. In medicine, it is used as an antidote for methanol overdose or ethylene glycol. Commercial products that require ethanol are perfumes, colognes, mouthwashes, medicinal liquids, and rubbing alcohols. Recently, it is being widely used in making hand sanitizers.

Ethanol is popular in these products because of its ability to easily mix with water and many organic compounds. Ethanol is also an important additive in cleaning products. Food products Ethanol is used as a food additive and it helps to evenly distribute food coloring. Plus, it also helps in enhancing the flavor of food extracts. For instance, commonly used vanilla extract is made by processing vanilla beans in the mixture of ethanol and water. Fuel Ethanol is an important component in gasoline.
