  1. San Francisco Travel Tips

  2. A trip to San Francisco is an unforgettable experience. Whether you visit the city for business or pleasure, there are lots of ways to make your visit memorable and less expensive. One way to do that is to include on your itinerary many of the free activities and activities that are within walking distance. This will give you a chance to see the side of San Francisco Bay Area residents love.

  3. If you are a first time visitor to San Francisco, there are some things you must make time to see. They include the Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman's Wharf, Alcatraz, and Chinatown. However, the time of day you visit these places can significantly impact your experience. Many people say between midday and early afternoon is the best time to see the Golden Gate Bridge because the fog will be gone. Others say sunset if it's not too foggy.

  4. For Fisherman's Wharf, on the other hand, early in the morning gives you the most authentic experience. You can watch the fishing boats make their way to shore and unload their catch. If you are more interested in street performers, vendors, and large crowds, then evenings and weekends are the time to visit. No matter when you go, the food is fantastic.

  5. When visiting Alcatraz, the Early Bird trip is best if you want to explore the island. However, in the late morning and early afternoon there are more guided tours and lecturers. Lunchtime or later is always a good time to visit Chinatown. That's especially true on Saturdays. That's the day the locals do their shopping at the markets on Stockton Street near Columbus. This deep, immersive cultural experience will make you feel you've been transported to China. It's magical.

  6. But there's much more to see. Visit the San Francisco Botanical Gardens with its 8,000 different plants and hundred-year-old redwoods. Take a hike on the Presidio. See the Painted Ladies of Alamo Square. Take a sports fishing excursion. Peruse the many museums in the San Francisco Maritime National Park. You can even visit the Yerba Buena Gardens, Gold Rush sites, and Haight-Ashbury.

  7. When you're tired of the tourist trail, take a moment to stroll along the shores of the Pacific Ocean and enjoy myriad peaceful sights and sounds. Waves crashing on the shore, seabirds run-hop-flying along the beach plucking snacks out of the sand, surf, and sea, and the brilliant sky above. Walk down to Fort Funston and sit on the wooden deck. Explore rocky Land’s End where the ocean meets Golden Gate. Watch the shorebirds in the marsh at Crissy Field or stand on the pier and observe the sea lions. Breathe deep and smile. Welcome to San Francisco.
