  2. When your planning to start your import-export business in India, You must have done lot of research on which product to export are import for your ecommerce business What is import export code? First let us understand what is importer and exporter code and for whom it is needed • First step we need to do before starting an import/export business in India is to get an IEC(importer Exporter code) • IEC consist of 10 digits permitted by directorate general of foreign trade industry for company carrying out import/export Copyrights by INSTACouriers

IEC is not required under the following condition:1)personal use which is not connected with trade, manufacture or agriculture.2) government ministries and departments, & certain charitable organization. Now let us discuss the steps involved in getting new IEC for Business: • Step 1: visit the website  http://dgft.gov.in/ for applying new IEC • Step 2: From the menu select ‘online application’ tab under that select IEC then click on ‘online IEC application’ tab as shown in below image. Step 3: next step is you need to enter your pan number in a given textbox and click next button Step 4: For applying for new IEC click on radio button ‘Apply for fresh e-IEC’ Then enter mobile number and email id respectively. Step 5: then you receive 2 OTP (one time password) one you will receive in mobile which you have submitted and another in email enter those OTP in respective fields then click on submit. • Step 6: After submitting, you will receive ECOM reference id for your application • Step 7:Then you need to fill up details regarding your company ,address,contact details and so on • Step 8:IEC application fees can be payable via debit card, credit card etc • Step 9:upload the required documents in a pdf format or image to get new IEC • Step 10:in the end ,click on submit for submitting your application .
