  3. Let’s talk about our patented lightning surge protection devices. The term surge protection device (SPD) describes electrical devices typically installed in power distribution panels, process control systems, communications systems, and other heavy-duty industrial systems, for protection against electrical surges and spikes, including those caused by lightning. When clean, uninterrupted power is crucial, LEC’s next-generation surge protection devices are ready to provide the highest level of performance for the safety and reliability of your electrical systems. These devices are able to accomplish two tasks for protection, i.e., surge voltage in terms of amplitude needs to be limited and discharge of the surge voltage to the ground, which is done without causing any damage to the devices.

  4. Lightning Surge Protection Devices (SPD) are classified according to their standards generally into three types, namely Type 1, Type 2, and Type 3 Surge Protection Devices (SPD). • Type 1 Surge Protection Devices (SPD) can discharge partial lightning current, with a typical waveform of up to 10/350μs, and usually employ spark gap technology. It is usually used in industrial buildings to protect insulation levels against external surges caused by lightning. They can be installed between the secondary side of the utility transformer and the line side of the main service equipment overcurrent protective device • Type 2 Surge Protection Devices (SPD) can prevent the spread of overvoltage in electrical installations and protect connected equipment, characterized by an 8/20μs current wave, and usually employ metal oxide varistor (MOV) technology. It is usually installed at sub-distribution boards. Combined Type 1 and Type 2 SPDs are generally installed in consumer units. • Type 3 Surge Protection Devices (SPD) must only be installed to supplement type 2 devices near sensitive loads. It is characterized by a combination of voltage waves (1.20/50μs) and current waves (8/20μs), with a low discharge capacity.

  5. Electrical disturbances will occur. You must ensure the lifespan of your expensive electrical equipment is not compromised by protecting it with the best lightning surge protection devices on the market. Our full-service firm is aligned to solve your most complex challenges in lightning protection, grounding, and surge suppression.
